I hope this is a temporary glitch. Judy Curry’s excellent blog Climate Etc has been shut down or suspended by WordPress. Back up your data people! - H/T Vukcevic.
More news on this as it comes in, I’ve emailed Judy but I’m sure her inbox will be stuffed right now.
I hope this gets sorted out quickly. Judy’s blog is one of the liveliest and busiest comment-wise in the climate debate. The wordpress backup export file generator doesn’t seem to be working at the moment either. Which has me drumming my fingers…

Derek: Agreed. It’s worrying that WordPress would take such a step with such a popular blog. I really hope they’ve got in touch with Judy directly so she can respond to their concerns.

Judy just emailed to say it’ll be some hours before her tech team will be available and any notification email would have gone there, so she doesn’t yet know what has upset WordPress or if they’ve communicated about it.

WordPress.com Terms of Service is an awful legal document, denying any responsibility and putting all burden on customers. I would rather not discuss its details on a WordPress.com blog though. Nuff to say it makes extremely easy to kill a non-premoderated WordPress.com blog for third parties by injecting stuff. Has a blog war been started?

well that was interesting. still no idea what happened, or why the site came back. there seems to be no way to contact wordpress (and they did not contact me at all.) Anthony Watts helped by contacting someone he knew at wordpress, perhaps this did the job.
I’m going to draft a letter to wordpress owners Automattic and circulate it round the community for additions/amends. If it was a dirty tricks effort which got Judy’s blog shut down, Automattic need to be more aware of the nature of the debate and use good judgement to handle matters arising.
As indicated above, the site has reverted back to being inaccessible, so the problem apparently has not been resolved.
Anthony tells me it was a database error.

Moderation by Judith is light to non-existent. Either sabotage or spamming could have triggered some kind of automatic shut down for breach of conditions.
TB I just went to Judith’s site and it is back up. Some nasty person must have reported her site to WordPress. Everything looks ok.
