After three beach days, we´ve headed uphill. This was the dawn at Almunecar this morning.
Around midday we headed for the bus station, arriving just in time to catch the fast aircon coach to Granada. It´s a spectacular climb, with the Sierra Nevada eventually dominating the skyline.
In the old city, we caught up with some culture on the cathedral steps.
We´ve just found a room for the night from the cybercafe where I´ve written this post, so we´ll be checking in there next to drop the bags for the evening.
The nightlife of Granada is terrific, so here we go!

I love the string quartet on the cathedral steps.
It’s not hard to see why the Spanish gave the name “Sierra Nevada” to the mountains hear in California too. You could’ve said the picture above was taken in southern California, and no one would’ve questioned it.
If you are flexible and haven’t planned tomorrow yet, take the bus to Güejar Sierra and walk the “Vereda de la Estrella”, upstream the Genil River until you enjoy the view of Sierra Nevada highests peaks. Then have tapas/raciones dinner at Güejar main square. It’s great!
Patagon, thanks, I’ll study the map later.
Yep, agree with Dennis Cox. defintley the reason, Darn hard to tell-sagebrush and all.
No wonder Sergio Leone filmed in Spain..
Worth visiting courtyard of the music academy, you may like to wander through the old University and of course the all important Alhambra.
Vuk, we were walking round it as you typed it. 🙂
See the new post for some pics.
