Tallbloke’s Talkshop Help facility.

Posted: April 27, 2012 by tchannon in Blog

Over the past few weeks I have created and added a new facility for the Talkshop. There is now a Help page and also a jumping off page for fixed pages and information. This has had to be done within the crude resources available with blog software.

The top of page Menu now contains two new entries.

  • Help
  • Entrance

Help describes itself. I have enabled comments with a warning that any content is subject to deletion. This is not about being difficult with you but partly about a limitation in the blog software. Comments on the main blog and comments on fixed pages behave differently (believed to be a bug). Won’t go into details.

Entrance, goes to a launch page for other sets of pages. I couldn’t think of a better name which will mean something to anyone whatever nationality they might be. I have put a couple of items in there, is just a minimal start.

    From help text:
I cannot read the blog easily because the text is too small.

Yes, the small fonts are annoying.
But there’s help. Works in Chrome, Firefox, Explorer …
To embiggen the fonts, press crlt +, to lessen the fonts press ctlr -

Yes, >contl> + – is standard in all graphical browsers.

At risk of broken links I’ve added some links to specific resources: not all browsers have inbuilt help.

Within the View menu, Zoom has an option in FF to make the ctrl+/- work on Text Only. Selecting this prevents the page’s graphics etc. from extending beyond page boundaries and making use of scrollbars necessary.
