There’s a woman by the name of Liz Gallagher, who happens to be one of the stable of luminaries associated with John Ashton‘s E3G shop. Ashton, you may recall, is the man who claimed that the U.K. Met Office is a “jewel in the crown, of British science and global science”.
Gallagher’s E3G bio indicates that:

Perhaps it is sometimes necessary to speak out about the directions you see the world taking if you believe with reasonable certainty that the direction lead to problems.
Perhaps if the German people spoke out and took action against the “final solution” more would have been done earlier by the rest of humanity.
If you so strongly held views on AGW were wrong. and you had killed all environmental research despite much evidence for looming problems (perhaps not disaster). How will you explain your actions to those who will be living in the result of your beliefs.
Please note that AGW is not guaranteed to exist and similarly it is not guaranteed NOT to exist.

It’s not the sceptics who wish to kill environmental research, it’s the CAGW brigade, with their strident claims that “the science is settled” who are doing their utmost to do that, just try getting funding for a research project that DOES NOT somehow strengthen the case for AGW.
As for the poor getting dead, they are doing that already, from energy poverty in the UK and from being condemned to use smoky cooking fires for cooking because the “Environmentalists” refuse to permit development of electrical facilities in the Third World, for example the World Bank has just ceased funding for coal, fired power stations – the cheapest available generating capacity.
So stop patronising people who are more informed than you, and open your eyes to what’s actually going on in the World.
