Loading The Dice

Paul Homewood does some smart stats work to confirm what we feared. Ed Miliband is a plank.

NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

By Paul Homewood

A phrase we keep hearing over and over again, is that we are “loading the dice”. The idiot Miliband is the latest to jump on the bandwagon

If you keep throwing the dice and you keep getting sixes then the dice are loaded. Something is going on.”

(BTW – he has referred to 2012 as the “second wettest winter on record”. In the UK, the winter of 2012/13 was actually the 28th wettest since 1910. (2011/12 was even drier). To think we’re likely to have this cretin running the country next year!)

It is easy, of course, to pick one month or one year and say how wet it has been. Just as it is easy for me to find other wetter episodes. But if there is any truth in “loading the dice”, we should see two things:-

1) An increasing trend in…

Milliband has got it precisely back-asswards. The “loading the dice” metaphor means that certain events are more likely to occur in the future than would otherwise have been the case (Or at least that what some claim. Honest modellers will say their models are not even capable of predicting any single event, because they don’t possess the resolution.)

The term is usually employed by climate alarmists to pass-off the fact that observations of such events are NOT exceeding historical frequencies, but they are still claiming that they will in the future. That sounds familiar.

Someone has been denying Ed proper access to the facts.

I have to reprimand you for your headline. Insulting planks is unforgiveable. They are useful in many ways, Milibrain has no use what so ever. He is an arch-bandwagon-jumper.

170mm appears to be a normal wet winter. Certainty not an “Oh my god” wet winter.

Out in western America it is called a “wooden fence post”, 😉 still a dumb piece of wood. pg

Sweet. I’ll go and keep a watch after midnight when the streetlights switch off. I’ve never seen them in the UK.

I propose a place in TB’s “Hall of Shame” for the first dumbass who cites this as a sign of climate change.

I’ve found a real time Aurora Borealis forecast site with maps to estimate your chances. I can’t vouch for its reliability.

Thanks, Michael. No luck a couple of hours ago despite perfect viewing conditions, and it looks like things have died down now.

    Maybe next time…….

Miliped just shows how ‘climate change’ is all about politics and not about science.

You might expect the founder of the UK Dept of (Energy and) Climate Change to be the last one to catch on when the truth is in plain sight.

Hint for Ed: keep your eye on this one.
