This is a brief post pointing at my own low traffic blog where I am asking for assistance with finding a few Met Office sites. Not a pretty post, will bore ordinary readers but if you are tech, maybe.
On the other hand there is a huge list of Bing and Google links to aerial images. (150+)
Example, where is Sheffield CDL not a full site, temperature and humidity, that is the location given. 🙂
[update] shep has found it, see comments ]

News?
The Met Office do pull their socks up slightly so fair do. Remember the thermometer in a hedge?

Well, I’ve been going through all the site aerial images as part of the new work and the Met Office have tidied up, cut the scrub and the hedge, seems to be tidy. Needs Google Earth and the time facility to see this. Time will tell whether they cut twice a year to keep it that way. Still a lousy site but not quite so awful.
Got a new humdinger, might show it some time. Where not to put a fancy site.

Sheffield CDL could be the one at Weston Park, very close to that location. It’s also a museum, so that also may explain the limited data.

Brilliant thank you.
Well within normal location errors for official data.
Glimpses of a screen from Google Streetview. Digging photographs, got it (copyright, no direct URL), Stevenson screen in an enclosure. Probably has a rain gauge there but no other obvious instruments, typical of a site in a park.
Looks about WMO class 4
It then gets interesting. Google reveals a dodgy site history
I’ll regenerate the data files later. [done, software automatically added this nice shot

West Freugh is an RAF base very close to the Galloway coast, very rural.
No info on the weather station but came across ‘the UK’s most reported UFO incident.’
‘The West Freugh incident’

‘Questions were asked in Parliament and the Air Ministry were eventually obliged to admit they were unable to explain the incident.’
Found another missing station, silly because I found it a couple of years ago but not on the synoptic list.
