Several Talkshop commenters have asked for more information on Ferenc Miskolczi’s theory about atmospheric law. The information is already on the Talkshop but explicitly bringing it out does no harm. The information is widely available.
There are two presentations which may be useful, a general one which touches on the theory and then an attempt by a colleague to explain.

As I understand it: The fundamental for Earth is water compensates for CO2 leading to a constant factor involving 1/3 for atmospheres. For Earth also the atmosphere can be considered as convection series connected with radiation. It fits for Mars and Lunar.
Description of the TIGR dataset
The Thermodynamic Initial Guess Retrieval (TIGR) data set, in its latest version, is a climatological library of 2311 representative atmospheric situations selected by statistical methods from 80,000 radiosonde reports (Chédin et al., 1985; Achard, 1991; Chevallier et al., 1998). Each situation is described, from the surface to the top of the atmosphere, by the values of the temperature, water vapour and ozone concentrations on a given pressure grid.

“The saturated greenhouse effect theory of Ferenc Miskolczi”
Presented by
Miklós Zágoni
Zágoni like Miskolczi is Hungarian so he is well placed to discuss the science on equal terms. Apparently he changed his mind about the fabled greenhouse effect.

Naturally the whole business is disputed.

I downloaded and graphed 34 years of OLR and T a while back and put it up at my blog (kiwithinker). Pierre was kind enough to put my article up at NTZ. You might be interested. I’m not into trying to explain the finer points of BBR and Boltzmann as that is beyond me, but the trends observed do fit Boltzmann with an RE of 0.6 quite well. http://notrickszone.com/2014/11/03/data-contradict-warming-hypothesis-and-ipcc-models-relative-emissivity-is-not-declining/
(Be kind … I’m only an electrical engineer)
GOOD! Ferenc Miskolczi’s papers needs to be read, and read, and read again so at least they know what he is saying and what all of the radiosonde data points to even though it is rather taxing absorbing it on one or two passes.
[MODS]: IIRC, this sentence should be “The fundamental for Earth is water compensates for CO2 leading to a constant factor involving 1/3 for [our] atmosphere
s.Not constant for all atmospheres, once again, IIRC.
I could swear there are figures and equations in one of his papers calculating that same factor differently for Mars but I’ll have to go searching for it later… got to vote right now. If I am wrong, I’ll ask you remove this comment for I do sometimes make mistakes.
Tim, as ever, you quietly understate the importance of your posts. thanks for bringing this back to the surface.

Aptly said TB. However, Ferenc leaves the conclusive proof that WV compensates for ‘radiative gasses’ to another person.
How can we ‘easily’ show that the ‘partial pressure’ of water is the driver behind all of this?
Best regards, Ray.

F. Miskolczi perhaps, is the only person that ever worked for NASA Goddard, that has “any” personal integrity left.

This is true. Here is another to read:

Maybe this explains a bit more about what I think of all the AGW nonsense of IPCC .

[Reply] Great to have you contribute a comment here Ferenc! I will make a new post with the paper. Thanks – Rog TB
[…] here’s a nice surprise. Out of the blue, Ferenc Miskolczi has dropped a link onto Tim Channon’s thread, which goes to his major new paper, published by the SEI. So we are privileged to be among the […]
One of the best parts is when the unexpected falls out of the blue.
Thank you Ferenc, I will — thrice at least. 😉
