Back before he took office, Obama set out his stall for his pogrom against affordable energy. The mail has breaking new of a report the government has tried to suppress:
Family electricity bills are set to soar by almost £350 within 15 years – to pay for the Government subsidies for green energy.
Official figures — initially withheld by ministers — reveal the price of electricity will rocket by 60 per cent as wind farms and other green projects take over traditional coal-burning power stations.
The cost of electricity will jump from £131 per megawatt hour to some £206 by 2030, the Government estimates. It means that the average household bill will rise from £589.50 to £927.
Homes which only use electricity could see their bills rise by as much as £440 a year.
Businesses will also be hit very hard, according to the new figures. On average such medium-sized firms will see their electricity bills rise by more than £500,000 a year, according to the Sunday Telegraph.
The figures were published last week by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, following a Freedom of Information request by campaigners.
The information was initially prepared for an official government report – but the tables showing the cost of green policies on future electricity prices were kept secret because they were ‘thought to be confusing’.
In a bid to cut Britain’s greenhouse gas emissions, the Government has introduced a swathe of green subsidies.
Dr John Constable, of the Renewable Energy Foundation, slammed the Government for hiding the impact of green energy policies. He said:
‘The striking scale and increasing trend of the climate policy energy price impacts are bad enough in themselves, but DECC’s attempt to conceal these vitally important figures is breathtaking.’
