Merry Christmas to all our readers.

Wishing all talkshoppers a cool Yule, a happy hippopotamus, and a prosperous New Year. 2016 has been seriously busy on several fronts, with the EU referendum campaign resulting in victory for common-sense and country during June, our successful London conference in September, and much work done on the hideaway in the Breton countryside my wife Kath and I have been working on as and when we can.

So my apologies for being missing from the talkshop much of the time and big thanks to my co-bloggers Tim Channon and Stuart ‘Oldbrew’ Graham who’ve been keeping the lights on and the fire stoked here, despite big issues of their own to deal with too.

Here’s to a peaceful and pleasant Christmas for all, and a bright new year as the days start to lengthen again.

  1. J Martin says:

Nice looking house. Looks like it has a cellar for the wine?

  2. Joe Public says:

Thanks for your & your team’s efforts.

    Merry Xmas to you all.

  3. tallbloke says:

JM: Thanks, and yes, a nice dry cellar just tall enough for Kath to walk round in. I have to stoop a lot…

JP: Cheers, it’s been a pleasure to help serve you up the prospect of a free country. Now we have to bang the energy policy drum a bit harder so we can make a success of Brexit.

  4. Graeme No.3 says:

    Merry Christmas.
You may have to expand your wine cellar in case the French go for Frexit.

  5. Climatism says:

Merry Xmas to you all. Thanks for another great year of blogging. Looking fwd to hanging out with you all here in the new year! 🎄🎄🎄 Jamie

  6. Paul Vaughan says:

In the darkest hours Brother Putin penned a letter wishing vision of light.

Season’s Best as our Team’s constructive, pragmatic drive for security and stability deepens overnight for the dawn of more serious global and regional challenges:

Bon Courage as we prepare pragmatic logistics to ensure stability.

‘Tis the Season and ’tis the Sun. May there be stability in her light …and in her democratic shadows.

  7. Stephen Richards says:

Joyeux Fêtes, Roger to you and yours.

  8. p.g.sharrow says:

A thank you to our hosts and the patrons of the Tallblokes Talkshop for an interesting and enlightening year. May the new year be as productive as the last…pg

  9. Let’s make 2017 even better, Rog!!

  10. RJ Salvador says:

Best wishes to all for Health and Good Fortune in 2017!

  11. tchannon says:

Roger has interesting times, indeed merry and ‘appy Christmas to Roger and all.

I want the multitude of thanks rolled out to oldbrew for being a reliable trooper, keeping things rolling. Stuart has done far more than could be reasonably asked.

Right this mo, past midnight on the single night of the year which I find wonderful because it is the only time when a silken blanket of relax falls over England.
    a) aircraft traffic ceases even though this is conventionally inaudible
    b) much the same for railway traffic

Pay attention… this is anecdotal evidence pointing straight at the wind turbine “noise” matter, except it is not sound as such. Remember I spent many many years in professional audio, know a few things.

Road traffic has little effect, I guess because the spectrum is quite different.
We also get “noise” problems from overdevelopment, high rise buildings, excessive density of buildings, where wind wakes form buffeting streets. This is a similar nature to the wind turbine street.

  12. Paul Vaughan says:

Steering clear of twisted ends is politically as simple as ABC:

    Anything But California.
    Anything But Chicago.

Dec. 23, 2016 age 66 RIP Destiny’s Child Survivor of RTS media Bulldozer Revolution…

[clarifying edit by Tim:- “Vulović died in her apartment in Belgrade on 23 December 2016.[12] She was found dead by her friends; the cause of the death was not immediately known.” — wikipedia –tim]

“[…] fell approximately 10,160 meters (33,333 ft) […] suffered a fractured skull, three broken vertebrae (one crushed completely) […] temporarily paralyzed from the waist down, and two broken legs […] in a coma for 27 days. […] status as a national heroine prevented the authorities from arresting her despite her open defiance of the […] government.”

It’s a fertile sign that global stability can survive imbalanced ends in Chicago & California …and the consequent fall of human reason.

Thanks for the wonderful job you do.

If you are looking for a little amusement, that yapping chihuaha (David Appell) is still posting his slanderous comments about your eminence. Naturally I am doing my best to slap him down!

    Merry Christmas

  14. Merry Christmas and a prosperous EU-free New Year to all. Go Brexit.

  15. tom0mason says:

    To all at Tallboke —

    Cheers !!!

Have a Merry Christmas and a happy and cool new year🙂

  16. A C Osborn says:

Merry Christmas to one and all.
I hope 2017 is better for all of you.

  17. ren says:

    All the best in 2017.

  18. pochas94 says:

Paul Vaughan: A perfect work of art there, friend! Merry Christmas.

  19. Paul Vaughan says:

pochas94, coming back from kayaking through the ice today I heard my favorite Christmas song:

“Tell me I’m the chosen one,
Tell me there’s no other one,
Jesus was an only son for you”
—- Bullet with Butterfly Wings — Smashing Pumpkins

    It’s a happy, festive song.

I trust you know it well…
…and note well that Vulović’s coma endured 27 days.

“Someone will say what is lost can never be saved…”

The Americans are exhausted from infighting. I don’t know if they have the needed energy and drive to resist sitting on their laurels, so I know what Trump’s strategy will be:

“Can you fake it? For just one more show?”

Now is not the time for naivety friends. He doesn’t know what he’s up against. And it’s good fun offering strategic provocation. Earth’s top leadership’s from outside more than just the USA!

“Jesus was an only son for you…”

What’s Christmas without such a provocative Christmas song?
Wherever you see “job” in the lyrics, the reference is to Job from the bible.

  20. Paul Vaughan says:

Vesna Vulović was 1 Hale cycle (22 years) old when she survived a 10km fall to Earth, after which she was in a coma for 1 equatorial solar rotation (27 days). She lived 2 more Hale cycles, dying at age 3 solar Hale cycles (66 years).

JoNova keeps reminding us of a problem with our media.

Vulović symbolizes in simple human terms light bulldozing media darkness. (Is your mind sufficiently open to the personification of light?)
