Alan Carlin: A particularly lunatic week for climate alarmism

The Climate Industrial Complex (CIC) cannot be accused of thinking small, as Carlin Economics and Science explains.

At the state level, the approval of California bill SB52 by both houses of the state legislature means carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions must be lowered to levels 40% below levels measured in 1990.

This is expected to necessitate the development of massive numbers of new regulations and policies that will allow the state government to control and dictate virtually every aspect of Californians’ lives in the opinion of one observer, including:

where and how they can live,
what kind of jobs and businesses they can work in,
what kind of housing they can have,
what kind of car they can drive (if any),
how many miles can they drive,
what kind of public transportation they must use,
how many times they must walk and bicycle,
how much and what kind of energy they can use,
what kind and how food can be farmed.

That line of thinking may come to a sudden end. Living in a fantasy world tends to get get you smacked up side of the head by reality. Much like the poor rapeugees pouring into Europe ( oh wait, they aren’t here to make a better life, they are here to take over bringing the same idiotic ideas they allegedly left) , food prices may bring about a sudden end to such misguided assertions about climate. The 3 feet of global warming has left a large area of the wheat growing areas in the US damaged. And not on the mainstream media are some uncomfortable accounts that there may not be any wine this year in France. And forget about the budding wine industry in England.. I guess they will have to go back growing barley. I sort of do favor the Australian wines anyway But with the proper spin, it’ll be global warming after all.

  2. Gamecock says:

It’s decadence. They do this stuff because they can. Nothing is going to change until the lights go out.

  3. BoyfromTottenham says:

I think California’s politicians just qualified themselves for a ‘Darwin’ award! Pity the poor residents of that state.

  4. oldbrew says:

Alan Carlin: ‘Obviously, there is no upper limit to the CIC’s potential demands since there is no expenditure or concessation that will achieve the stated goal (an alleged end to climate change). A number of countries, mainly in Western Europe, have attempted to cater to some of the CIC’s demands, and now California is going ever deeper into the deep end. But since the alleged goal cannot be achieved by reducing human-caused CO2 emissions, there is no amount or concessation that can ever be said to achieve a goal that humans currently have no means to achieve or even measure. But that is unlikely to change the CIC’s behavior.’

If you believe, you gotta pay – it’s the new religion :/

  5. JB says:

There goes their tourism. Maybe the grape and vegetable farms, the Redwoods?
Better stock up on your raisins, grapefruit, and oranges.

  6. DB says:

    “There goes their tourism.”

Tourism should be okay. The problem is one of leakage — activities that can be done elsewhere will start to move. Transportation, for example, can’t go elsewhere; one still has to get from Pasadena to Santa Barbara. On the other hand, dairy or cotton or watermelon production will be headed out.

  7. California is already in deep debt. Companies and people are fleeing. As cost increase more will flee but it might take a large earthquake to remove the stupid democrat (in name only socialist in fact) politicians.

  8. gallopingcamel says:

Yet another reason to love California. They are implementing another loony idea so the rest of us won’t have to.

Will they ever learn? Let’s hope they keep on demonstrating what happens if public policy is based on junk science.

  9. dscott says:

As with all plans of the Sagacious, reality will finally strike home when the voters are tired of being insulted and stolen from by their betters. Governor Brown has recently called voters who object to his new gasoline tax hikes as “freeloaders”. The Democrat Party, the bought and paid for mouthpiece of the greedy self enriching Sagacious will shortly be shown the door by angry voters. No doubt, Democrats/liberals will decry the selfishness of the ignorant masses for stopping them from continuing their religious AGW crusade.

Liberalism is not an ideology, it is a series of clever narratives in support of the Sagacious. This why Liberalism seems to continually contradict itself and those who adhere to it display no set of consistent principles other than the hypocrisy of double standards.

Some of this looks a lot like Alan Carlin’s piece 😐

Guv Brown uses “Climate Change” to Create Totalitarian State—Government in Total Charge of Your Life!!

  11. Russell Johnson says:

C’mon Gov Moonbeam 40% that’s nothing. How about lowering CO2 140% below levels measured in 1990 if you and your comrades really want to punish people.
