German wind energy market “threatening to implode”

If the flood of subsidies looks like turning to a trickle, the backers of renewables soon get cold feet – in Germany at least, as Pierre Gosselin explains (via GWPF).

While Germany likes to fancy itself as being among the “global leaders” in tackling climate change by expanding green energies, the country has in fact taken very little action recently to back up the appearances.

If anything, Germany is more in the green energy retreat mode. There are good reasons for this.

German flagship business daily “Handelsblatt” reported yesterday how Germany’s wind energy market is now “threatening to implode” and as a result “thousands of jobs are at risk”.

José Luis Blanco, CEO of German wind energy giant Nordex, blames the market chaos on “policymakers changing the rules”. Subsidies have been getting cut back substantially. The problem, Blanco says, is that worldwide green energy subsidies are being capped and wind parks as a result are no longer looking profitable to investors.

The Handelsblatt writes that “things have never been this bad”.

50% drop in new German parks

The online Hasepost reports that while in 2016 some 4600 megawatts of new German wind power capacity were installed onshore, the figure will fall almost 50% to 2450 megawatts of new power by 2019. The fall could even be greater.

MORE proof that without massive (market-distorting) taxpayer subsidies, weather-dependent windmills cannot compete with conventional forms of power generation; fossil-fuel, nuclear or hydro plants that provide a continuous supply of despatchable power 24/7/365. Electricity when you need it, not when Gaia decides.

It’s truly disgusting to think about how opportunist carpetbaggers like Vesta have earned billions of dollars on poor people through forced subsidies.

This is nothing new. After “Moonbeam 1” in California the mandates and subsidies were shut down. All the wind farms here fell into disrepair and were shut down. The day to day cost of operation was more then the value of power generated. Only those with lucrative long term contracts with the state water management system were kept operating. Only the intervention of the scam artists of ENRON Corporation were able to resurrect this monster as their way to stave off bankruptcy, The effort failed for them but this cancer was again spread around the world.

The promoters of “Green Power” knew this full well. Wind power is a scam to line the pockets of the promoters. Without Government intervention Wind generated Power can not be profitable. Wind power can NEVER be a useful contributor of energy for a modern societies needs. It is a terrible waste of resources and a net wealth drain on society.

Anyone with enough brains to run the numbers can see that It can’t succeed without massive government intervention. This fact hasn’t changed in the nearly 50 years that I have been involved in energy production. “Green Energy” is a scam to rob the public through government. It is not a solution for providing energy for a modern society.

The only renewable energy supplier that I know of and is dependable is hydro and over the long term, cost effective. A fact that has been known for thousands of years. A fact that was used to create the American Industrial Miracle of the 20th Century. And it proved it’s self for 50 years before government got involved. Geo-thermal has been a maybe for as long as I have been involved.

The only long term solution to the power needs of modern society is Nuclear, although getting a good handle on that still remains to be worked out. As presently being pursued, “Plasma Fusion” is a VAST waste of resources, and can not yield economical power generation. It is based on BS, Bad Science, and has been on massive government life support for over 80 years. Another Scam that can only exist with government intervention. I do see hints that real Fusion can be done economically and safely. Hints that are being pursued by private non-government groups at no real cost to the public…pg

One of wind power’s many problems is the distance from the consumer. This often means more vast expense on cross-country transmission lines.

  5. stpaulchuck says:

these windmills have always been nothing more than subsidy farms. The minute the subsidies drop (or hopefully go away) these travesties will also go away.

  6. Bitter&twisted says:

    Great news!
Unless you are a subsidy sucker.

The Beauly-Denny transmission line for example. £600 million, or £1 million per pylon, or £4 million per mile. Or about £0.5 per MW added to the grid (on windy days).
