Yet another region of the world is getting subjected to much colder winter conditions this season than its residents are used to, with potentially severe results. Meanwhile some heads of government continue to drone on about alleged man-made global warming.
Heavy snow and unusual, extreme cold weather in January has cut off thousands from major transport routes in Morocco’s High and Middle Atlas regions, raising the risk of food shortages and dangerous living conditions for the affected communities, reports CNBC Africa.
The combination of heavy snow and temperatures dropping as low as -5° C has caused water supply shortages, power outages, lack of heating and damage to homes.
As food supplies dwindle farmers have reported loss of livestock, prompting a surge in food prices.
More than 100 volunteers and staff from the Moroccan Red Crescent have been deployed to central mountainous provinces to provide emergency transport and medical assistance as well as to distribute food, blankets and supplies. The Moroccan Red Crescent assistance is part of the Government’s response to support 700,000 people affected by the cold wave.
This is an area that rarely sees temperatures drop below 18°C in winter which makes these people very vulnerable to the extreme cold. They have very little clothing and heating in their homes to keep them warm which puts them at serious risk of freezing and disease,” said Amelia Marzal, Head of Country Cluster for the Middle East and North Africa Region at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The IFRC has released nearly 250,000 Swiss francs from its Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) for the Moroccan Red Crescent volunteers to continue providing emergency assistance and psychosocial support for 17,500 people most affected by the cold snap over the next three months.

Looks to me as though using ‘climate change’ some are beginning to move back towards global cooling. With some still on warming, the science does not look entirely settled, after all.
Looks like ‘Climate Change’ immigration may happen after all but not for the reasons they thought.

Always worse for areas that are not used the cold.
This is not the end of the cold weather in Morocco. Look below.

The psychosocial support will do a lot of good to people who are starving and freezing.
It’s not just an isolated local event…

Freezing Tokyo sees most ambulance calls for 80 years
AFP January 25, 2018
Tokyo’s ambulance service has experienced its busiest day in more than 80 years, officials said Thursday, amid icy conditions as the Japanese capital shivers through its coldest temperatures in decades.
. . .
As a cold snap grips Japan, the mercury in Tokyo dropped to minus four degrees Celsius (25 degrees Fahrenheit), the coldest in 48 years, according to Japan’s Meteorological Agency.
And the government warned the glacial conditions in Tokyo would continue.

Strongly polar vortex attacks in China. Soon he will attack in the US.
In Hubei, snow and rain have cut off power at around 1,000 China Mobile’s base stations. The local branch has dispatched more than 900 repair workers to restore the service.
The snow also damaged more than than 13,333 hectares of crop in Hubei and toppled down over 500 greenhouses.

Buried in the snow – recent Alpine pics
http://www.inthesnow.com/buried-in-the-snow/
Let’s analyze the current polar vortex pattern in the lower stratosphere. Please see that in the west the isobars from the Western Arctic reach the north of the USA. That is why the Arctic air already starts to reach to the Northen USA. The circulation in the stratosphere has an impact on the jet stream. The difference between these levels is 100 hPa. However, the high speed of wind in the polar vortex and the stability of the circulation pattern in the stratosphere force the circulation in the tropopause. In the tropopause, the influence of water vapor (warmer air) is mixed with the influence of stratospheric ozone. Ozone particles are heavier than air and they fall from the upper layers of the stratosphere near the polar circle. Water vapor as lighter than air rises to the tropopause above the equator.
