Dunce School: Electricity Generation 101 for the Wind & Sun Worshipper

The incorrect demonising of carbon dioxide has poisoned the minds of many political leaders. Painful reality is bound to catch up with them and their misguided energy polices sooner or later.

It takes a special brand of ignorance to still believe that the world can run on sunshine and breezes. Whether you blame a breakdown in the education system or a Trotskyite takeover of the mainstream media, the results are the same: there’s a stubborn rump who continue to turn fantasy into ‘fact’; who are incapable of distinguishing the former from the latter; and who are by far the most rabid and shrill when it comes to the topic of the generation of electricity.

Our good friends logic and reason were sacrificed on the altar of ideology, a generation ago.

Defending those critical attributes of an ordered and civil society is what STT is all about. Of course, the wind and sun cult hate us for that.

You can’t blame them; when you have a child-like belief in something you deeply love (think Father Christmas, the Easter Bunny, talking unicorns) and…

I think you will find it is not ignorance, ideology, stupidity or any of those things that are driving the political zealots, both local and national, in their stance but money.

    Al Gore and smart meters,
Turnbull (Aus PM) and Goldman Sachs and their carbon credit scam.
Prescott and his mate Gummer with shares in renewable industries.
The list goes on for those that are willing to follow the money.

Those I am concerned for are the people that have been press-ganged into the scam through their taxes.

Its incredibly frustrating to find that there are groups of minds that you cannot reach, but there are equal frustrations on their side. Not being able to reach us. I recently had a very green friend talking about life after peak oil.
I pointed out that the peak oil predictions had failed and that recent discoveries pushed the problem hundreds of years down the road. She pointed out that it would eventually be a problem, so ‘what are we going to do about peak oil?’

two groups talking past each other

There are still major oil finds…

Bahrain’s largest oil find estimated at 80 billion barrels

Shale oil techniques are improving too.

Ivan and EternalOptimist both make valid points but I am with Tallbloke on this one. The impetus behind ‘green energy’ and ‘global warming’ is emotional. It is devoid of relevant knowledge and driven by feelings (their word not mine). From my experience, they are incapable of assessing risks, or balancing risks and benefits. They think that wind, for example, is free energy. They don’t understand that you pay heavily to manufacture and maintain turbines, or to back them up when the wind fails. They don’t understand the science, the significance of evidence, the irrelevance of obviously inadequate models or the difficulties of interpreting data.

I agree that money is a confounding factor. I often ponder over people like Gore, Cox, Harrabin etc, whether they are utterly scientifically illiterate, too stupid to find trustworthy advice, or just morally depraved – willing to sacrifice billions of pounds for personal financial gain or for political advantage. I have read a lot of psychology to try to examine this question.

RGHE theory exists only to explain why the earth is 33 C warmer with an atmosphere than without. Not so. The average global temperature of 288 K is a massive WAG at the ”surface.” The w/o temperature of 255 K is a theoretical S-B ideal BB OLR calculation at the top of – the atmosphere. An obviously flawed RGHE faux-thermodynamic “theory” pretends to explain a mechanism behind this non-existent phenomenon, the difference between two made up atmospheric numbers.

But with such great personal, professional and capital investment in this failed premise, like the man with only a hammer, assorted climate “experts” pontificate that every extreme, newsworthy weather or biospheric flora or fauna variation just must be due to “climate change.”

The Earth’s albedo/atmosphere doesn’t keep the Earth warm, it keeps the Earth cool. As albedo increases, heating and temperature decrease. As albedo decreases, heating and temperature increase.

Over 12,000 views of my five WriterBeat papers and zero rebuttals. There was one lecture on water vapor, but that kind of misses the CO2 point.

Step right up, bring science, I did.

Australian wind power – look where the lows are. Something has to plug those massive gaps.
