Alan Carlin: Why climate change is not an exception that justifies government intervention in free markets

Accuracy in long-term climate prediction is hard to come by, from solar cycle activity onwards. Claims of imminent doom are bluffs, as is the idea of spending to ‘solve the climate’.

Climate change is nothing more nor less than a faddish scam, writes Alan Carlin. Unfortunately, this is not unusual in environmental issues.

One major problem is that there is no inexpensive way to “solve” it as climate alarmists claim. In fact, it could easily consume the entire national income of any nation that really tried to eliminate it.

The benefits of actually trying to do so would be negative, not positive. This is because the climate warriors picked a trace gas which is vital to life on Earth as their culprit. And they picked a gas that has had no significant affect on global temperatures.

As Richard Lindzen pointed out recently climate is influenced by a myriad of effects and to blame a minor trace gas for whatever happens is ridiculous.

Fortunately, the scam initially started to take hold in Europe first. So much of the economic damage has occurred there, not in the US.

And the Europeans are finally beginning to realize that humoring the climate alarmists does not make them go away. It only makes them ask for even more.

UN’s Solution To Climate Change: End Capitalism
Posted on Sat 10/20/2018 by PA Pundits – International

What will it take to keep the planet habitable?

According to some eco-warriors, all that’s necessary is to end capitalism—the one economic system that has lifted billions from poverty and suffering.

As communist bloc countries found out, you can’t end capitalism, only drive it underground – because the supposed alternative is always much worse.

The IPCC is now making loads of changes to their actual ‘scientific’ report to reflect what the summary says. You couldn’t make it up.

IPCC: Redefining ‘Global Warming’ at the 11th Hour

On what planet is it OK for politically-determined definitions to supersede those written by actual scientists?

Two weeks ago, the media announced the arrival of a new report prepared by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). But that 1,200-page document still hasn’t been officially released.

Instead, journalists have been relying on a 34-page Summary for Policymakers – which is actually one the strangest documents you’ll ever encounter. Normally, after someone writes a report, they write a summary that strives to accurately represent it. After making both the report and the summary public, they move on.

Not the IPCC. Its website tells us 16 pages worth of changes are now being made to the underlying Scientific-Technical Assessment to “ensure consistency with the approved Summary for Policymakers.”

Astonishingly, at this eleventh hour, the definitions of key terms are being altered. [bold added]

    IPCC: Where Dictators Overrule Scientists

No matter how undemocratic, sparsely-populated, or terrorism-promoting a nation happens to be, a sentence written by scientists will not survive if that nation objects.
