From the ‘you couldn’t make it up’ department.
‘Who’s heading this investigation? Inspector Clouseau?’ Twitter pokes fun at police claims there may not have been a drone flying over Gatwick with hilarious memes.
Flights were suspended for more than 36 hours from Wednesday, causing Christmas travel chaos at Gatwick airport in Crawley, West Sussex, reports the Daily Mail.
But police said the drone may never have existed.
The mystery of the missing drone which grounded more than 1,000 flights at Gatwick Airport last week has turned police into a laughing stock as the stunned public was told there may not have been a flying nuisance at all.
Officers over the weekend said they are considering all options when investigating how a device was able to hover over the runway and prevent 14,000 passengers from flying.

Police explain…
Asked about speculation there was never a drone, he said: ‘Of course, that’s a possibility. We are working with human beings saying they have seen something.’
😂
Since a lot of these people also believe that they see man made Climate Change at work, one can understand the sceptical approach by the police.
Someone asked if there really was a Brexit referendum.
I suspect someone saw a sparrow hawk hovering, mistook it for a drone, then mass hysteria/malicious pranksters took over.
The rest, as they say, is history.🤪
The police can’t rule out the possibility of no drone? Deduction no 1: no footage or images of a drone. No 2: wtf?
When I saw the video of the spot in the sky it certainly looked like a hawk or similar chasing a prey. Funny that no decent pics or videos of the alleged drone exist that look like a drone or have I missed something?
The big question is/was who reported it? Was it a pilot of an incoming/outgoing flight or some odd member of one of the anti airport green groups? In the first instance a pilot in or out has to be aware of what is in the air around his plane so the report would be accurate. The second instance is a terrorist act but takes a lot of verification. In any case I would assume the control tower personnel would have verified it before warning aircraft away.
Also by saying that the drone may never have existed are the police trying to cover up their incompetence or were members of a protected group flying it?
I am I take it you mean the BBC?

UK now has systems to combat drones – Ben Wallace

No disrespect, but is not the UK police also unable/unwilling to intervene and strongly in organized Muslim rape gangs?
Since climate terrorists and thuggery are at least as politically favored as Islam, it seems likely that the police will be slow at best in resolving this.
What better way than to question if anything at all was happening….
Bottomline ..it never occurred to me that there is no proper evidence
But has anyone actually seen a proper video ?
..or a first hand account from someone that witnesses one
All I seen is a BBC video where a Gatwick manager says “we had a sighting that was confirmed by the police”
..There is a Daily Mail video, but it has no telephoto so al it is, is a dot that could be a bird or something .
This BBC vid looks to be the same footage
Droning-On was sceptical from the start
“No proper evidence”, in the Age of Climate Consensus” is not a reason to do nothing.

Gatwick, being a populated area, they would use shotguns and not rifles to shoot down KAOS’s drones.

People who saw drones near Gatwick may have been seeing police drones looking for rogue drones.
