As I mentioned in the last installment of this series, as soon as I got home from the march on Parliament from Sunderland, I began preparation to stand in the local government elections on May 2nd. This will be voters’ first opportunity to give parliament a swift kick in the ballot box since the Brexit Betrayal on March 29th.

This is really important because a genuine electoral threat is the only thing the main parties take any notice of. They will carry on undermining our country’s democracy unless they become convinced they will lose significant numbers of seats at elections.
On monday I downloaded the Council Candidate Nomination Pack. On Tuesday I designed and ordered leaflets, and did the rounds to get my 10 supporting signatures, despite feeling a bit under the weather. On Wednesday I took in my nomination papers in and was accepted as a candidate. On thursday I woke up feeling really rough and went to the doctors. I’m on antibios and have been told to take it easy.
I got a quote from a leaflet distribution company and today I took 5000 of the 7500 leaflets to them, and also the last 5000 Let’s Go WTO leaflets I had in stock. Leave Means Leave have run out of ground campaign money and I’m redundant from the 10th April.

I’m going to need some help to cover costs. Some of my fellow marchers are coming to help get the other 2500 leaflets delivered, but the cost of delivering the 5000 +5000 is £500. I’ve also ordered a stencil to spray up a load of signboards and window posters with.
If you would like to support my candidacy and campaign for independence and democracy, please use the paypal button at the top left of the site. Thanks to anyone who can help. Who knows, I might find time to write up the Porto conference everyone helped with soon if the enforced rest continues…
It’s hours since I posted this. Apathy rules. OK?
I know it’s disheartening to see your country’s foundations bulldozed by the dozy twats you voted for, but if you stop commenting, I stop fighting.

Oh Nohses! Good luck in the Campaign. I’ve already switched off the bbc politics progs – so fed up listening to the tripe and yipe. …. and then we get that Fish in a flap on our other channel.
Politicians are such a bunch of sissies.
They are afraid of everything. Margaret Thatcher was not afraid.
First stage is rest and reflection. Then, when you are fit and well, attack. It’s a big job but it must be done. Local government is a good place to see how inappropriate policies harm the people that you communicate with face to face. It’s where you can build a constituency.
Roger, sorry haven’t posted but at present in Seattle with my family so 8 hours behind and evening here. All power to your elbow, live in East Midlands UK nr Grantham, back in UK 25 April. Frankly cannot get over the fact we no longer live in a democracy nor have free speech (have taken these for granted for all my life (70)). Am hitting the “donate” button NOW.
Thanks Erl. I’m feeling pretty rough just now and frustrated I can’t hoof it around the ward knocking on doors and delivering leaflets. But as you say, rest and reflect. And plan for the big action weekend at the end of the month.
It appears the US is also facing similar challenges.
Forgive slow comment rate on this.
The patriotism you are demonstrating is profound and admirable.
I wish you all success.
Good luck Roger.
Most “comments” seem to be on your twitter acccount which is where I have been following your exploits so tend not to take so much notice of the Forum comments if they are not “sciency”.
I do not have twitter, although I often have questions or comments I would like to include.
Perhaps a sticky “Twitter comments” would be useful for us non twitters.
Are you in the TheBrexitParty or Sovereign?
“Frankly cannot get over the fact we no longer live in a democracy nor have free speech”
With open borders, you don’t even have a country anymore.
Good on you Roger!
Get well soon and all success to your campaign to fight for democracy. Flush out the Brexit-betraying rats from Westminster!
Re the legal challenge…
The Government could only change the date of Brexit through complying with the terms of The Withdrawal Act 2017, in fact by superseding it with a new Act. Article 50 specifies that the withdrawing country must comply with its own constitutional requirements. The 2017 Withdrawal Act only empowers the Prime Minister to notify Britain’s withdrawal under Article 50. There is no provision within the Act for any extension to be made by the Prime Minister. Another Act Of Parliament was required if the date was to be delayed. Yet there wasn’t one. So the delay negotiated by British officials is Ultra Vires, null and void.
The Government’s other attempt to get round the requirement for an Act Of Parliament was to claim that the extension to Brexit Day was being made under the Royal Prerogative. This flies in the face of the recent decision R (on the application of Miller and another) – v – Secretary for Exiting The European Union (2017) which held that the Withdrawal Statute fully displaced any residual rights to use prerogative powers.
This looks like an open and shut case.

I’ve been too busy with physical campaigning and too tired on an evening to give the blog the attention it needs on the policy/political front. Stuart has done an admirable job covering the science side of things and deserves everyone’s thanks.
I’ve had four donations come in (you know who you are, and thank you). They’ll cover around 20% of the immediate campaign costs. My work contract ends on Wednesday so I’ll need to find another way to earn a crust ASAP.

If we do get presented with a second referendum with the Merkel-May diktat as one option and remain as the other, we must go to the ballot box with a big felt pen and write across it
WTO BREXIT NOW!
There has been a generous response to my appeal for assistance with campaign costs. Thanks to all who are supporting this effort. We are making a difference, and I do stand a real chance of winning this council seat. We delivered leaflets to 900 houses yesterday, and got very positive responses to my campaign. Today there will be three of us delivering from 2.30pm until 7pm. Tomorrow we’ll be at it all day again.
I wish you good fortune, Roger. I believe more in Brexit than many brits and, living in france, it will hurt me a lot but real freedom is worth any suffering a slimball politician can send our way.
I am very disappointed in brits in UK though. They should have anihilated lib/lab/con at newport last week and didn’t. All signs are that it will be the same at the next General Election and / or referendum. That’s the plan and always has been. It’s the EU method. The only one they have.
I’m thinking that revocation could now be the best option. Join with the Italians and all countries to the east and destroy this monstrosity from the inside.
Barnier Hints Backstop Stays, Deal or No Deal (4:15 p.m.)
Chief EU negotiator Michel Barnier said the bloc would not start trade talks with the U.K. in the event of a no-deal Brexit until an agreement has been reached on the Irish border. That means the U.K. has to find a way to keep the Irish border open if it wants a trade deal with the EU, and the only way the two sides have found so far is the backstop.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-08/may-seeks-labour-compromise-to-ensure-u-k-leaves-brexit-update
– – –
Meaning the U.K. has to find a way to keep the Irish border open that the EU approves of, which brings back the conundrum of the DUP not liking any border ideas that the EU likes.
No problem, we’ll just charge the standard tariffs and laugh at Brussels/Berlin.
An endless loop of no-deal being ‘banned’, and nothing else being acceptable to all parties, looms
Rest assured. Penetrating scilence is not what IT CEAMs….

Any decision by the Prime Minister to accept a long extension to Article 50 is likely to be challenged in the UK courts.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-47875923
He said it was a “fundamental principle of British constitutional law” that the government cannot use their powers to frustrate the intention of Parliament, and a long extension would do just that.
Meanwhile Guido (https://order-order.com/section/euro-guido/ ) reports
Halloween Extension
“The result of the EU Council summit late last night was that the EU offered a six month extension until 31st October 2019, the day before a new EU Commission take their seats, and presumably coincidentally, All Hallows’ Eve. As a sop to Macron, who was pushing for a much shorter extension, there will be a review on 30th June. This ‘review’ is entirely symbolic… “
Time enough to put the coven together and sober-up their chief spokesperson Jean-Claude Juncker. (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrZc3EkVWdk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPgiI46FCDU — drunk no. Just tired and confused after a liquid breakfast!)
Junker who Guido observes is off in Rwanda commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the genocide, and of who he says “… it is unwise to let Jean-Claude Juncker even light his own cigar after the cognacs, which in Juncker’s case could be just after breakfast.”

Theresa May’s Article 50 extension is illegal, and will be challenged in the courts
BILL CASH
13 APRIL 2019 • 9:00PM
After hours of discussions with QCs and former judges, I believe the British Government’s extension of Article 50 is unlawful.
It is a fundamental principle of UK constitutional law that the Government may not use its powers, including its powers to make international agreements, to frustrate the intention of Parliament. Parliament’s intention is to be found, and is only to be found, in the laws it makes. Resolutions of the House of Commons may sometimes be politically important, but they are of no legal effect unless an Act of Parliament expressly gives them legal effect.

And as an example of incompetent EU elite, here’s a very short video of Jean-Cognac Juncker in Rwanda commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of that country’s genocide. Jean-Cognac Juncker is narrowly diverted from adding to the casualty list…
tallbloke,
I know I don’t understand the UK politics very well, but isn’t it true in a parliamentary system, that various coalitions join together in common cause to form a government? And if that is so, does it not make sense for Brexit and UKIP to work together?
Thanks
Just a bloke in the USofA who loves the old country.
The economic benefits of being in the EU?
German Economy Heads for Worst Growth in Six Years
17 April 2019
The German economy is turning into Europe’s underperformer, with the government now predicting 2019 will see the weakest expansion in six years.
Amid slowing global momentum and concerns over Brexit and trade disputes, the economy ministry on Wednesday cut its estimate to 0.5 percent, half the pace previously forecast. It’s the latest in a series of downward revisions from a 2.1 percent projection a year ago. Growth for next year is seen at 1.5 percent.

I am going to brexit rally in Nottingham today at 2pm I wish you well in the local elections but I doubt that my vote will make any difference in these elections.
Perhaps there will be effective push back against the descending darkness?
I have just looked at the list of candidates contesting my ward in the local election : Con.,Lab ,LibDem. and green I will not vote in this election there is no democracy here.
Just voted in my locals. no brexit party so I voted ukip
I hope roger can find room in his heart to forgive me 🙂
Voting UKIP is fine. Whatever sends an effective message to our treacherous Parliament and treasonous Prime Minister.
And some of my thoughts on the EU …
The 4 basics of trading nations —
1.The right to property ownership.
2.The rule of law.
3.Freedom of speech.
4.The democratic mandate.
And from those principles had came many nation’s prosperity. Ideas that free individual could plan their own future, plow their own furrow, make their own markets and their own wealth. Those ideas spread and have enabled many other nations to gain prosperity. Nations that often competitively traded with Britain, and a competitive trade that brought wealth to all those trading nations.
However these are not the basics of the EU. For the EU it’s about ruling by decree of an elite, and not by the will of the people. The EU is all about territorial expansion while reducing nationhood — reducing the importance of national sovereignty, national heritage and national identity. An EU where nationhood is cheapened by a mandated and expensively maintained refugee policy. An EU where bureaucratic inertia rules the speed of change, where enterprise an innovation waits for the lethargic deadening hand of EU minions to proffer their preferred regulations.
The EU is about imposing social and economic rules to ensure economic activity and choice is retained only within a controlled internal EU market. This EU is all about collectivism but not choice or representation. All about tax and tariffs, spend and subsidize, mandate and bureaucratically manage, and never about efficiency or personal enterprise.
The EU’s future is all about failure, and the correct bureaucrat management of that decline.
The current UK government does not believe in Britain being an efficient and outward looking economy. It’s not about trading with all the world but instead it wishes to be a client state of the EU, and sheltering behind this EU trade protectionist wall. A protectionist wall that is mandated and defined by the unelected EU commissionaires who pay homage to the international globalists and their protectionist ways.
All this is obvious from the current decline in wealth throughout the EU. This EU decline shows itself in France and Belgium where citizens have taken to the streets in yellow jackets; in Greece where the economy faltered, stagnated, and collapsed, while the EU action was to steal property and pensions; in Italy where, because of the EU, there’s been no significant economic growth for 20 years, and recently had their budget rejected by the EU elites. This EU decline that shows even in Germany, where the latest trade figures are evidence of a contracting economy.
That is the EU the UK needs to leave! An EU where the vision is narrow, where the rules are arbitrary and discriminatory. An EU where wealth declines and that decline is mandated by unelected EU commissionaires, rubber-stamped by the EU Parliament, and managed by its vast and expensive EU bureaucracy.
