Climate Hysteria Costs Labor Australian Elections

One national newspaper headline: ‘Climate Hysteria Costs Labor Party ‘unlosable’ Elections’. Many voters seem to have found the notion of ‘fighting climate change’ either unconvincing or irrelevant. Alarmists are shocked and baffled.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has retained power in the Australian election while Labor’s election strategy to make climate alarmism the key issue has backfired, says The Australian.

Bill Shorten’s Labor Party will finish behind Scott Morrison’s Coalition and the Prime Minister still has a path to a majority government.

In counting to date, the Coalition holds 74 seats to Labor’s 67 seats, while the crossbench looks set to contain six members. It is ahead in three seats which are too close to call. If these leads hold, it could win a bare majority in the 151-seat House of Representatives.

Labor failed to make the gains it expected due largely to a poor primary vote of just 33.92 per cent, which was 1.59 per cent below its primary vote at the last election.

Federal Labor leader Bill Shorten has referred to climate change as an “emergency,” in his final formal pitch to voters ahead of Saturday’s federal election, says Renew Economy.

“If you vote Labor we will deliver the change that the nation deserves from day one,” the Opposition Leader said in his speech at Bowman Hall in Blacktown, New South Wales, on Thursday.

“We will convene Parliament to prioritise real action on climate change… I promise that we will send a message to the world, that when it comes to climate change Australia is back in the fight!,” he said.

“It is not the Australian way to avoid and duck the hard fights. We will take this emergency seriously, and we will not just leave it to other countries or to the next generation.

“We are up for real action on climate change now if we get elected on Saturday.”

The people are waking up to the scam mainly because it is effecting them in the wallet. It would be good if the people of other tech countries did the same and told the the UN Church of Climatology to get lost and all the local CCCs to pull their heads in.

“the UN Church of Climatology” – Gove seems to have been anointed as a Bishop. This was two years ago.

“Unless we take the right environmental action we risk seeing more species die out, with potentially undreamt of consequences in terms of the health and balance of nature. We risk flood damage to the homes in which we live and devastation to the islands that others know as their only home. We will see the forward march of deserts compelling populations to be on the move and the growing shortage of water creating new conflicts and exacerbating old rivalries.

Indeed, ultimately, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and the energy which powers enterprise, are all threatened if we do not practice proper stewardship of the planet.

Now, it is because environmental degradation is such a threat to future prosperity and security that I deeply regret President Trump’s approach towards the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

International co-operation to deal with climate change is critical if we’re to safeguard our planet’s future and the world’s second biggest generator of carbon emissions cannot simply walk out of the room when the heat is on.

….from the Royal Society to the National Trust, Kew to Cefas – which have provided global leadership and set the standard for scientific rigour in the application of all environmental policies. And I should say that as well as these organisations, we are fortunate to have in the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs a team of scientists, economists, policy specialists and analysts second to none. It’s a privilege to be working in a department where the quality of analysis and advice, as well as the commitment to rigorous science, is so impressive.

So we are in a fortunate position. But as we prepare to leave the EU we must give thought to how we can create new institutions to demonstrate environmental leadership and even greater ambition.”

Blown Away: Australians Reject Labor’s 50% RET & Plans for Giant Wind & Solar Roll-out
    May 19, 2019 by stopthesethings

Bill Shorten and his acolytes believed that Australian voters would flock to his grand – ‘save the planet’ – plans for sunshine and breezes. Their propaganda wing, GetUp! made it seem like the only thing Australians are worried about is the weather, windmills and solar panels. Apparently not.

  7. Rowan has it right. Socialism is about tax and distributing it not to the needy but to people in power. The threat of tax increases especially to retirees, investors and savers was the push for many who do not think about “climate” or social issues.
BTW Malcolm Roberts is a chance of being elected to the senate in QLd. He is a qualified mining engineer who has been very outspoken against the “climate” scam and the fiddling with temperature data.
I am happy to say I voted for him personally at no.1 below the line in our strange partly proportional and partly preferential voting system for the senate.
