Classic 😂

Climate change activists brought traffic to a standstill in the City of London today after mistakenly targeting a building which contains the offices of a leading renewable energy company, reports London’s Evening Standard.

Members of protest group Reclaim the Power dressed in white boiler suits and swarmed Moorgate during rush hour, unfurling a banner reading: “No Borders, No Nations, No Gas Power stations.”

The group was protesting against energy company Drax over plans to build a new power station in north Yorkshire.

However, although formerly based in Moorgate, Drax has had its London headquarters in nearby Noble Street since last year.

One of the companies still based at 41 Moorgate is Statkraft, a Norwegian hydropower company which describes itself as “Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy”.

An employee at the company, who asked not to be named, said protesters had chained themselves to doors at the front of the building.

He told the Standard: “They’re protesting against Drax, but they don’t live here anymore. I understand [the protester’s aims] but it helps if they check the facts.”

The employee said there were about 200 protesters blocking the road. Videos from the protest showed demonstrators chanting at what they appeared to think was Drax’s headquarters.

No – they got the RIGHT building! I approve of renewables firms being picketed.

  2. oldbrew says:

They got their headline even if it was for the wrong reason.

They did a research as usual.

Maybe someone should have infiltrated the demonstrators and added a few extra padlocks to the chains to help them stay the night.

  6. Graeme No.3 says:

Don’t these protesters realise that Drax is a leading renewables user? Why they burn more renewables than anyone in the whole of Europe; it must be renewable fuel because they get subsidies to burn it.
And China might burn more coal than any other country, but the green sites are always making much about “their commitment to renewables”.
And speaking of commitment…well best not make fun of the afflicted.

  7. stewgreen says:

This section of #PutinsLittleHelpers also stopped the construction of Keadby2 gas power plant for a day ..thus gained the opening item spot on both ITV and BBC Hull news progs
A quick check of their Twitter feed shows they are opposed to Drax biomass.

This encapsulates the protesters perfectly, however despite the obvious humour these whackos are very useful tools of the establishment, there to create the illusion of a social ‘concensus’ as they push the anti-democratic and authotarian values of supranational governments and multinational crony capitalist corporations pushing authotarian rule for the masses. The useful idiots think compliance will spare them the boot about to crush them.

  9. Gamecock says:

“No Borders, No Nations, No Gas Power stations.”

If they actually got that, they’d be dead within a month. Starved, or killed in the riots.

    They protest with full bellies.

  10. oldbrew says:

Without nuclear, oil, coal and gas there would be far too little power to make steel or concrete for wind turbines, or for making and operating ships and trucks to move them around the world to their sites.

  11. Kip Hansen says:

Climate alarmist are alarmists BECAUSE they fail to fact check.
