PA Pundits - International

By David Wojick, Ph.D. ~

If you hold your nose and look closely there is some pretty funny stuff going on at the UN climate summit in Madrid. It is hard to hold your nose and laugh at the same time, but if you want to be UN watcher it is a necessary skill. I have been doing it for a long time, but then I have a big nose to hold on to while rolling with laughter.

First off there are the national delegations. International travel is expensive so you would figure the richest countries would send the biggest delegations, right? You would be wrong.

By far the biggest delegation is from tiny Côte d’Ivoire, with a whopping 348 delegates. Only a handful of these could possibly attend the negotiating sessions. Second biggest is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with 293, still a staggering figure. The other…

    Last year’s COP 24…

As an additional hook for eager ‘environmentalists’ from the third world and elsewhere, they also offered an all-expenses-paid vacation to hardship locales like Paris, Cancun and Buenos Aires. No wonder prime venues for environmental activism such as Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Ivory Coast have responded so generously by sending 406, 237, and 191 delegates to Katowice respectively.

Ivory Coast must like Madrid – up from 191 then to 348 delegates now. Or maybe they were under-staffed last time 😆

This is the sort of thing, that the national, MSM, should be reporting & asking questions about.
Why have these small countries, sent such large delegations?
Who are the delegates & what are their roles?
Who’s paying for them & how much?
Then show all of the debating & horse trading that’s going on.
I’ve found a list of provisional delegates. all 1216 pages

A quick first estimate, assuming just $200 / day for cost of hotel and meals, and ignoring transportation, run about $5, 500, 000 per day for thus mob. Don’t know how long it runs, but 10 days would be $55 Million.

    Now add the bar bill…

Why have these small countries, sent such large delegations?

Well, not because they’re worried about ‘carbon’ emissions, obviously.

Can you imagine any other serious conference on a serious, large-scale problem where a 16 year old saying nothing new would be welcomed?

Global terrorism perhaps? The problem of dark matter? Cancer?

Yet these clowns make time for a pointless and wholly uninformative lecture from a child because…why?
