White House Brochures on Climate (There is no climate crisis)

The only climate crisis is the one in some people’s heads.

[Wryheat note, the brochures linked to below were intended to be posted on the White House website, but since they are politically incorrect, the new administration will probably ban them.]

Late last year, several of us were asked by David Legates (White House Office of Science and Technology Policy) to write short, easily understandable brochures that supported the general view that there is no climate crisis or climate emergency, and pointing out the widespread misinformation being promoted by alarmists through the media.

Below are the resulting 9 brochures, and an introduction by David. Mine is entitled, “The Faith-Based Nature of Human Caused Global Warming”.

Introduction(Dr. David Legates)

Systematic Problems in the Four National Assessments of Climate Change Impacts on the US(Dr…

“The Sun Climate Connection(Drs. Michael Connolly, Ronan Connolly, Willie Soon)”

The sun controls terrestrial climate, but that document will surely make many people believe otherwise.

  2. Paul Vaughan says:

to be clear: I’m saying the document is worse than unhelpful.

There is an absolute and apparently permanent refusal by everyone to be sensible about sun-climate relations.

  3. oldbrew says:

    Roy Spencer:
recent warming of the climate system could be mostly natural and we would not even know it.
That makes the belief in human causation of global warming, to a large extent, a matter of faith.

[comment] And in science, faith is no substitute for evidence.
    • The global energy imbalance responsible for recent warming is much less than
the uncertainty in our knowledge of natural energy flows.
    • As a result, climate change could be mostly “natural”, and we would not know it.
    • Climate models must be adjusted to not produce any “natural” climate change,
which the modelers simply believe does not exist.
    • Despite their belief, there is abundant evidence of past natural climate change
events, the causes of which are largely unknown.

In fact, there is no climate “crisis” or “emergency.” However, as Orwell noted, the language of fear and panic is one of the main instruments of political control.

It’s that big yellow thing in the sky? Who’d a thunk it!

  6. Paul Vaughan says:

One of the things I’ve been wondering is how many of those people rioting in DC are past their breaking point and suicidal. I suggest to Joe Biden it could help things calm down if someone eminently sensible could convince the media to stop bullying the populace.

  7. Peter Norman says:

I read through the Radiation Transfer brochure by William Happer hoping to find some insight into the Earth radiation budget calculations.
    Radiation-Transfer.pdf (drroyspencer.com)
When I got to the top of page 7 “Without greenhouse gasses, Earth would be a lifeless snowball” credibility faded. How long would a snowman last in the mid-day sun on the Moon? Further down the page I got to the last of 6 graphs. “Radiative forcing is negative over wintertime Antarctica”. Happer seems to have discovered CO2 can only heat the Earth in Antarctica (see CO2 HITRAN wavelength peak 677 cm-1 temperature 193K). As Paul Vaughan might say: Give me a graph! One question remains: Why this professor emeritus cannot see his eureka moment?

  8. oldbrew says:

Greenhouse gas theory forgets the cause can’t happen after the effect. Historical records confirm CO2 increases in response to warming, not the other way round.

  9. Paul Vaughan says:

Peter Norman wrote: “As Paul Vaughan might say: Give me a graph!”

    I’m considering a permanent boycott.

PV. My wording was clumsy. I meant no offence. I am still in awe of your 2013 paper and the use of graphics to illustrate so many sun-climate connections. My interest is re-educating my two grandsons, aged 13, brain washed at school with AGW nonsense. Words are useless. A good graphic gets their attention occasionally. An open mind is all I can hope to encourage. I guess I failed to interest you in the Happer brochure. Satellite interferometry is way over my head. So much data, supercomputers, digital models and the UK weather next week? Who knows? I am looking for a reliable “killer” graph that scuppers this CO2 GHE thermal radiation nonsense. Where should I look?

    Maybe this…

Only the misinformed, or worse, speak of ‘carbon capture’.

  13. Stuart Brown says:

But that graph implies that if ‘carbon’ levels rise to 5 times what they are today we will be plagued by dinosaurs! Funding for further study would allow me to sort the causation from the correlation, possibly in exotic locations.

  14. oldbrew says:

    Alternative ice ages theory…

The Cause of Ice Ages is Increased Precipitation

    The Water Clock Mechanism

It’s strange that the cause of ice ages is generally attributed to a mysterious cool-down. There is not a logic for such a mechanism. The cool-down would have to be extreme and sustained. But there is a logic for increased precipitation causing an ice age, and the mechanism is evident in events over the past century.

    – – –
That’s the intro, not the whole theory. The basic idea is: more warming –> more water vapour –> more snow –> more albedo –> ice age. No Milankovic cycle.
