CCS can’t solve the climate crisis – new report

This should have been obvious all along, but believers in human-caused climate warming are desperate to find ways of overcoming the intermittency of renewables.

A study by climate scientists says carbon capture and storage (CCS) cannot meet the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Having asserted that a crisis exists, the pressure is on climate alarmists to find ‘solutions’. But none of the ones they have come up with so far – CCS, renewables, energy storage, hydrogen etc. – has any chance of fitting the bill.

They plan to ditch fossil fuels anyway. What could possibly go wrong?

What urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions? They are insane.

  3. Stuart Brown says:

“Friends of the Earth Scotland and Global Witness, which commissioned the study, described CCS as a “dangerous distraction” from the climate solutions that work, such as renewables and energy efficiency.”

OB, I don’t think they want to find a solution that works. They would have no reason to exist if they did. That over 80% of captured CO2 is used for enhanced oil recovery and that Jess Cowell, FoE finds that a ‘shocking revelation’ gave me a welcome chuckle this cold morning.

  4. oldbrew says:

If they’re so keen to capture CO2, why are they burning massive amounts of high-CO2 wood pellets at Drax?

Either they’re stupid, or they think everyone else is – or both.

A specific class of people, who all think they’re the smartest in the room. There’s a fundamental personality link between the Narcissist and the True Believer. Their aspiration is always to attain the top of a Mass Movement hierarchy.

“Rousseau: ‘The legislator is the mechanic who invents the machine.” Saint-Just: “The legislator commands the future. It is for him to will the good of mankind. It is for him to make men what he wills them to be.” And the razor-sharp Robespierre: “The function of government is to direct the physical and moral powers of the nation toward the end for which the commonwealth has come into being.'”

“Away, then, with quacks and organizers!
Away with their rings, chains, hooks, and pincers! Away with their artificial systems! Away with the whims of governmental administrators, their socialized projects, their centralization, their tariffs, their government schools, their state religions, their free credit, their bank monopolies, their regulations, their restrictions, their equalization by taxation, and their pious moralizations! And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty;…”
