The BBC didn’t think it would be reporting a widespread outbreak of toboganning and British-built snowmen in 2021, judging by its longstanding practice of trying to consign such pastimes to history along with Arctic sea ice.

Severe weather warnings are in place across much of the UK after large parts of the country saw heavy snowfall, reports BBC News.

The blanket of snow drew people outside for sledging and winter walks, but motorists have been warned to take extra care on icy roads.

Several coronavirus vaccination and testing centres were closed in England and Wales due to the conditions.

Police forces have reminded the public to stick to Covid lockdown rules while enjoying the snow.

Officers in Wandsworth, south-west London, encouraged people with gardens to play in the snow at home.

And police in Rutland, Leicestershire, were among several forces questioning why people were leaving their homes to go sledging.

Continuing coronavirus lockdowns across the four UK nations mean most of the population must stay at home, except for a limited number of reasons.

As well as four vaccination centres in Wales, six Covid testing centres in the West Midlands had to close due to heavy snow.

Highways England warned that the snow had caused collisions on the M3, M27 and M25 in southern England, with the agency urging drivers to only travel if absolutely necessary.

What? No global warming dawn sawf – cor blimey

  2. JB says:

“Police forces have reminded the public to stick to Covid lockdown rules while enjoying the snow.”

Big Brother, also impotent by the weather, out to make people obey.

  3. Tonyb says:

To our disappointment we have not seen a flake in Torquay although there has been a lot in nearby upland dartmoor

  4. Mack says:

And I notice Arctic sea ice expansion this winter has just nudged over the 14 million km2 mark (or 14 Wadhams in layman’ terms). With whiteouts and glacial weather repeatedly cropping up lately across the northern hemisphere the BBC is, apparently, extremely concerned that children will know exactly what snow is!

  5. Chaswarnertoo says:

Children will not know what snow is…….

  6. Phoenix44 says:

Government agencies whine and warn and moan about people enjoying themselves in slightly unsafe conditions.

What a bunch of bossy boots nannies.

When it’s cold, burn some coal…

  8. Johna says:

The other thing the BBC does (along with their AGW propagandists DA et al repeating in all nature programs that CO2 causes global warming) is to hide all European weather particularly snow and cold. They also keep the UK population in the dark about the record cold periods Earth is experiencing and absolutely no coverage of the GSM. But the most onerous aspect is the BBC keeps the disinformation firmly in favour of the AWG protagonists. So much for free speech and democracy to debate the truth about CO2! As according to our laws of physics thermodynamics and quantum mechanics CO2 cannot, does not and never has caused Earths climate to change. And since 1990 this is being validated by empirical data using satellite telemetry measuring actual atmospheric photon energy interaction with water vapour and minute amounts of CO2 in minute co-overlapping frequencies. And why for the last 2.7 million years temperature proxies derived from air bubbles contained in all ice core records show that temperatures dropped rapidly into successive ice ages and CO2 lagged by considerable time periods and after 100,000 years or so temperatures rose to interglacial temperature levels way beyond the interglacial levels we currently have and CO2 also lagged these temperatures considerably. So much so that in the last interglacial animals normally found in Africa roamed freely in the UK. And in the current interglacial around 1000 years ago Greenland was ice free and grapes grew in the North of England from the effects of the warm period which was particularly evident in Europe where grain crops also flourished, alpine tree lines rose, many new cities arose, and populations grew exponentially. Even in the 1930’s temperatures were higher than what is deemed as being record high temperatures now. Which all contradicts the current cry of a CO2 caused climate emergency – all caused by Mrs T’s Met Office Hadley Centre. Meanwhile her energy minister was championing for coal to be privatised so more money could be squeezed into to coffers of the rich. Even the NCB were included!

    Meanwhile in the US…

Storm blankets Midwest with heavy snow, travel disruptions

National Weather Service meteorologist Taylor Nicolaisen said 10 to 15 inches (25 to 38 centimeters) of snow was likely between York, Nebraska, and Des Moines, Iowa, and that it has been at least 15 years since that area received more than a foot of snow in a single storm.

“This is historic snow,” said Nicolaisen, who is based near Omaha, Nebraska.
