The prospect of a cool country becoming marginally warmer, should that happen, isn’t an urgent problem or maybe even any problem for the average Brit, judging by this poll. Climate fearmongers may need to look elsewhere for a good source of propaganda victims.

Only 50% of respondents in the YouGov poll for Sky News supported a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030.

Almost 25% of Britons are unwilling to change key habits that would help tackle climate change, an exclusive poll for Sky News suggests.

The survey, conducted by YouGov, asked participants what they would be prepared to do in order to reduce the country’s carbon emissions.

While 20% said they would be willing to see substantial increases in the price of overseas travel, 13% said they would accept higher costs for meat and other animal products. Just 2% supported increasing heating bills.

Overall, 29% of those polled said they would be willing to never drive a petrol or diesel car again.

But when confronted with all of these options, 23% of survey participants said they would not be prepared to support even one of these key changes.

The poll showed many Britons have a high level of understanding of climate issues such as renewable energy and carbon footprints, but little knowledge about this year’s COP26 climate conference – with little awareness of conference president Alok Sharma.

Only 50% of respondents said they supported a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 – and 36% were opposed to making air travellers pay greater levels of tax based on how far they fly.

The findings suggest that, while there is a growing awareness of some climate issues, climate change is viewed as a problem for other countries.

36% were opposed to making air travellers pay greater levels of tax based on how far they fly

UK air travellers have been paying hefty tax surcharges for years.

When asked about how climate change affects people’s lives in the UK, 69% of those polled said they did not feel personally impacted.

Media propaganda campaign has largely failed. Putting giant numbers into daily counters is Sky’s answer to this ‘problem’ 🙄

  2. Mack says:

With the UK producing @ 1% of global anthropogenic Co2 emissions, and humanity producing only @5% of global Co2 emissions from all sources, and Co2 only forming @0.04% of all atmospheric gasses, I can’t get very worked up about the UK’s total ‘carbon’ footprint, which has almost as many zeros in it as the Japanese Air Force circa 1941. Perhaps Sky should put that number up on screen to show everyone how irrelevant we are to global emissions reductions.

  3. Chaswarnertoo says:

The insanity of paying more tax to change the weather is dawning on them.

  4. Stephen Richards says:

So 50% of british are incapable of critical thinking. Just the sort of poll the Johnson socialist government needs.

  5. Stephen Richards says:

“The findings suggest that, while there is a growing awareness of some climate issues, climate change is viewed as a problem for other countries.”

Really ? People actually said that ? Je m’en doute.

  6. oldbrew says:

“The findings suggest that” is an interpretation. Sky wants it to mean ‘someone else’s problem’, but ‘nobody’s problem’ may be nearer the mark.

“Meanwhile, conservatives are said to have rejected science if they won’t believe that taxes control the weather.” from moonbattery.com

“Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good” – Thomas Sowell

  8. Graeme No.3 says:

Just 2% were prepared to accept increased heating bills; sounds like Boris is on a real vote winner with his plans for more renewables and replacing natural gas with hydrogen.

I wonder what the reaction would be from politicians that they are going to lose lots of votes.

  9. Phoenix44 says:

And some of the figures have clearly been skewed by lies. Support for paying more when its them thatvwill pay is extremely low – heating, meat, short haul travel. It’s only where people believe they won’t have to pay more – EVs – that there’s 50% support.

Very few people are willing to become poorer to “fight” climate change.

John Kerry Humiliated as Climate Change Prediction Turns Out to Be Totally Wrong
    April 9, 2021

Democratic climate czar John Kerry ominously predicted in 2009 that climate change and global warming were such imminent threats to humanity that the Arctic would have an ice-free summer by 2014.

    That never happened.
