EVs: doing away with the engine, but not the combustion?
By Ronald Stein ~
In the wake of a series of severe EV battery fires, one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the world,General Motors has just issued safety recommendations for Bolt EV’s:
- Not to park your Chevy Bolt within 50 feet of other vehiclesin case it catches fire.
- Highlyrecommends that Bolt EV owners not to park within 50 feet of anything you care about.
- Recommends parking on the top floor or on an open-air deck and park 50 feet or more away from another vehicle.
- RequestsBolt EV owners to not leave their vehicle charging unattended, even if they are using a charging station in a parking deck.
General Motors previouslytold Bolt owners
- to onlycharge the battery to 90 percent,
- charge more frequently,
- and avoid depleting the battery below about 70 miles of remaining range.
- And that they should also park the vehicle outside.
The recent General Motorssafety…

So, social distancing for vehicles. 🤣🤣🤣
‘and avoid depleting the battery below about 70 miles of remaining range’
Then range is overstated by 70 miles. 180 vs 250 advertised.
‘onlycharge the battery to 90 percent’
K. Now we are down to 160.
Laughable, isn’t it.
Not to park your Chevy Bolt within 50 feet of other vehicles
But other vehicles may turn up later and park closer than 50 feet 🙄
There be ATVs, and SUVs, and now we have ECVs;
External Combustion Vehicle
“But other vehicles may turn up later and park closer than 50 feet.”
But then it would be their fault for not knowing. (That’s how expressives view it.)
I’m thinking they should be required to be brightly painted with “WARNING” in big letters.
Perhaps EVs could be mandated to be painted in bright green, and only EVs. Then we’d know to stay well clear.
Will car parks offer Chevy Bolt zones, or maybe just refuse them entry?
You have to stay with it while it charges? How long is that – 30 minutes, 2 hours, 5 hours?
New meme:
“How slow was it?”
“Like watching an EV charge.”

A fleet of electric vehicles will be deployed for world leaders coming to Glasgow for crucial UN climate talks in November, the Government said.
Jaguar Land Rover will provide the fleet of battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids for leaders and their teams travelling to and from the summit being held at the Scottish Events Campus, the Cabinet Office said.
Umm, and the number of compatible charging point in and around Glasgow is not very many. Maybe some Diesel Generators would help!
If one went up in flames (whilst charging & nobody in it hopefully), that would send the message that EVs are not suitable for mass consumption. Mind you, the media would likely not report it.
‘A fleet of electric vehicles will be deployed for world leaders coming to Glasgow for crucial UN climate talks in November, the Government said.’
I see what they did there. There is nothing ‘crucial’ about the ‘climate talks.’
‘Jaguar Land Rover will provide the fleet of battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids for leaders’
Just being there makes them a ‘leader.’
Plug-in hybrids can run on petrol . . . which they probably will.
I get some schadenfreude thinking the non-leaders will get to ride in good cars. Stick Boris in a Prius.

Or an electric Robin Reliant, and give him a pack of AAA batteries 🤣🤣
‘A fleet of electric vehicles will be deployed for world leaders coming to Glasgow’
After further review . . . this is so juvenile. Evening Standard reveals CoP26 is a clown show, and they want to play, too.
These yahoos are meeting because the planet is allegedly becoming inhabitable by Man, and leaders will be in electric cars. Whoopty doo! Why aren’t they in electric buses?
I’m thinking Jeremy Clarkson in a P50.
I’m with Greta. These leaders (sic) should be punished for just being there.
