Since 1,800 parts per billion is 1.8 parts per million, let’s not waste too much time fretting about this.

The grandly aspirational announcements getting all the COP 26 press actually have nothing to do with the COP, which is basically a business meeting.
Most of these big news events are in reality trivial, such as India saying it will try to hit net zero 50 years from now. Greta Thunberg will be pushing 70 so she is right that this is not action. (As blah blah goes this is the real deal, hence her strident take on coming around the mountain, which I love. See https://www.cfact.org/2021/11/02/cop-26-greta-thunberg-sings-shove-your-climate-crisis-up-your-a/)
One grand aspiration, however, is worth a closer look, because it is worse than empty. It is dangerously stupid. This is the growing pledge to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030.
Here is how Climate Home News put it: “The US and EU got more than a hundred countries on board with a commitment to cut…

When it comes to the idiocy of trying to control the climate based on a short term observation. no action seems most likely to be the best action.
It should be embarrassing for supposed adults to be claiming livestock are a climate problem.
The only way to make this work is to pay farmers to reduce their livestock. That reduction means the price of meat will go up.
So once again a policy that will make the poor poorer and allow the rich to carry on doing as they want. It’s not just wrong, it’s immoral.
One of the biggest sources of uncertainty in computer models that predict future climate is how clouds influence the climate system and how their role might change as the climate warms.

Focus on cloud cover, not cow farts. Never mind assumptions like ‘as the climate warms’.

Biden Unveils Costly Oil And Gas Rules To Cut Methane Emissions At COP26
by Jeff Mordock, Washington Times
According to an article by Dr. Tom Sheahen:
Methane is only 0.00017% (1.7 parts per million) of the atmosphere. Moreover, both of its absorption bands occur at wavelengths where water vapor is already absorbing almost all of the radiation. Hence, any radiation that methane might have absorbed has already been absorbed by water vapor.

The climate con rumbles on as the misinformed demand ‘action’ – like what? Getting rid of a vast number of livestock is one of their moronic ideas.

It’s all part of…
Climate Derangement Syndrome
It’s the hysteria about climate change that poses the greatest threat to humanity.
Climate Derangement Syndrome is at root a revolt against modernity. It is a reactionary, Romantic, nostalgic cry of angst against the incredible world of production and consumption mankind has created over the past 200 years. This is why some at COP26 openly denounced the Industrial Revolution.

But the doomsters won’t be throwing their mobile phones away any time soon.
We must stop the cows before they burn the Earth to a crisp!!!
We Americans did our part, before we were even asked to . . . we killed off 60,000,000 bison.
Other climate madness…

Was the tide coming in?
I used to think it silly when alarmists suggested sea level rising 2 meters by 2100 will drown millions of people. Maybe they are on to something.
I’d like to think that Westerners will just step back a few feet.
