Dozens of ships stuck in Arctic as ice freezes early in reverse of recent warming winters

Where are the ‘rapidly warming winters’ this time round? It seems global warming is behaving badly, in parts of the Arctic at least.

Shipping firms blame the Russian Met office for a forecast that failed to predict the early ice, says the Telegraph.

More than two dozen cargo vessels are stuck in Russia’s Arctic ice, waiting for ice-breakers to come to their rescue, after an inaccurate forecast from the country’s Met Office.

Maritime traffic in the Northern Sea Route has been on the rise in recent years as rapidly warming winters reduce ice cover, and Russia invests in its Arctic ports in preparation for a further boom.

But this year several segments of the Northern Sea Route froze up about a fortnight earlier than usual, catching many ships unawares.

Alexei Likhachyov – director general of Russia’s state-owned nuclear energy company Rosatom, which manages the country’s nuclear-power fleet of ice-breakers – said on Monday that the ships included vessels sailing under the flags of Hong Kong and Marshall Islands.

He blamed the Russian Met office for a forecast that failed to predict the early ice, in comments to local media.

Reblogged this on Climatism and commented:
Cue the climate cult rebuttal, “See! Lockdown’s work!”

  2. Nothing to see here, move on.
What you mean you can’t, you’re stuck in ice?
Hang on I’ll send a fact breaker.

  3. Gamecock says:

‘Shipping firms blame the Russian Met office for a forecast that failed to predict the early ice, says the Telegraph.’

Whah. Long range forecasts are for entertainment purposes.

‘More than two dozen cargo vessels are stuck in Russia’s Arctic ice, waiting for ice-breakers to come to their rescue’

Whoa! Are you saying Arctic sea ice is BAD ?!?! Like Gamecock has been for years?

‘Maritime traffic in the Northern Sea Route has been on the rise in recent years as rapidly warming winters reduce ice cover, and Russia invests in its Arctic ports in preparation for a further boom.’

So they are looking forward to less sea ice.

So the undersea volcanoes along the Gakkel ridge have calmed down a bit?

  5. Phoenix44 says:

Which “rapidly warming” winters have those been? And what “reduced ice cover”?

These writers know absolutely nothing about this stuff. “Rapidly warming” means fractions of a degree a decade. Not going to stop ice freezing in November.

  6. tom0mason says:

WEATHER variability extends to the polar regions — who knew?
Obviously not the climate worriers who follow the IPCC sanctioned theory and models.

  7. Gamecock says:

‘“Rapidly warming” means fractions of a degree a decade.’

It’s worse than that. The Climate Industrial Complex™ has tricked the world with shiny anomalies. Not temperatures. So a 0.1 to 0.5 degree anomaly looks like a 500% increase (!).

Honest scientists would report in Kelvin. Peddling anomalies is psy ops. Intended to deceive.

  8. Pete Rogers says:

Instead of picking and choosing anomalies to score points off the warmers, why don’t we light the blue touch-paper and blow the thing out of the water – icebound or not – by showing that the Greenhouse Effect (GE) has no greenhouse effect giving the following proof.

The Planet is at least 33C warmer (the Atmospheric thermal Enhancement – ATE) than it would be without an Atmosphere and this is the only evidence that the GE has thermal potency and IPCC command us to realise that the GE is the only possible explanation for the ATE which is easily shown to be preposterous by the following basic thought experiment.

If Atmospheric Pressure was less then – all other things being equal – it would be larger, but with the same Thermal Energy content in line with the 1st Law so the Planet would be cooler in accordance with Charles’ Law. This means that gravity causes ATE so the anthropogenic theory (AGW), which precludes this possibility is irredeemably wrong.

This is the simplest proof – and it is not theoretical like most of our very good objections tend to be, but a simple invocation of the Laws of Physics – that the AGW is nonsensical.

This destruction of the AGW has the added advantage that it is extremely simple and basic. to the extent that any physics teacher would be compelled to concede it and the hysterical AGW will be dealt a severe – if not terminal – blow.

Faux news! Manbearpig said there is no ice in the Arctic by now. Would he lie?

Arctic shippers are avid readers of Peter Wadhams.

Manbearpig telling porkies? Surely not 😀

    Found this site

Seems to give daily updates of the progress of all the ships.
    Very detailed.
Most seem to be making progress

‘Season Of Shivers’: Old Farmer’s Almanac Predicts Bone-Chilling Winter

Brrr! The 2022 Old Farmer’s Almanac comes with a winter warning: Prepare for a “Season of Shivers.”

This winter will be punctuated by positively bone-chilling, below-average temperatures across most of the United States.
