Attempting to save the world, or this bit of it anyway,
from ‘climate change’ is a lucrative game.

A North East London council is actively searching to find a new director to lead its climate change work offering a salary that is reportedly larger than that of Energy Minister Greg Hands.

The role of Director of Climate Emergency and Behavioural Change at Waltham Forest Council will be paid £109,000 a year, reports Energy Live News.

That is £5,000 more than the Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Hands, according to the Daily Mail.

The council’s job advertisement describes what will be within the range of the Director’s new responsibilities: “You will lead the delivery of significant, large-scale and complex Climate Emergency and Behaviour Change programmes within the Borough, securing substantial carbon emission reduction outcomes both from Council operations and within the Borough boundary by changing how residents, businesses and partners think and act.”

In March, the Waltham Forest Council was heavily criticised for raising council tax by almost 5%.

Clyde Loakes, Waltham Forest Council’s Deputy Leader who is leading the borough’s climate emergency response, told ELN: “If we are going to have any hope of averting the crisis our planet faces, we must take bold action now and that takes skilled and talented people.”

    Utter, utter insanity.

Ve hav vays of making you behave correctly!

  4. Dave Ward says:

“Changing how residents, businesses and partners think and act

Considering how well the majority have been brainwashed about Covid, that should be a formality…

  5. Johna says:

What do you expect from a Government that’s corrupt, indifferent and callous and an opposition who are much the same? But when it comes to climate and in addition to this dreadful and precarious state these politicians have put our country in, most if not all of UK politicians don’t know how the climate works. Hence why they keep peddling the UN failed science dictate that CO2 causes the climate to change and humanity must obey their patent neo fascist totalitarian policies to fix it i.e. the poor stand even less chance of developing and all others must pay for their stupid and ignorant beliefs. The fact is the Sun controls our climate and the ice ages prove CO2 follows temperature and the younger dryas event categorically validates this with two verifiable scientific results.

    Later in the report:

“Waltham Forest leads the way in the climate emergency response having already pioneered changes to our road infrastructure resulting in huge increases in walking and cycling and a reduction in car usage that has seen an 80% decrease in those living in areas with dangerously high levels of nitrogen dioxide.

“As a council, we have an ambitious objective to build a sustainable future and hit our goal of being carbon-neutral by 2030.”

Bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo. Nitrogen dioxide has nothing to do with the climate.

“changes to our road infrastructure resulting in huge increases in walking and cycling” — sounds like road closures, diversions, and/or reducing the traffic flow to a crawl to make cycling and walking look competitive.

Also: “If we are going to have any hope of averting the crisis our planet faces, we must take bold action now and that takes skilled and talented people.”

What planet is Waltham Forest council on?

  7. Curious George says:

    Don’t walk away. Run!

  8. ilma630 says:

And that’s £109,000 (+ all the additional costs) too much. I’m not sure Waltham Forest residents would like that total waste of money to be spent, or even their own money paid in taxes being used for their ‘Behavioural Change’.

  9. Kip Hansen says:

Well, now that is something. They officially set up a Ministry of Truth “by changing how residents, businesses and partners think and act.””

  10. Phoenix44 says:

“You will lead the delivery of significant, large-scale and complex Climate Emergency and Behaviour Change programmes within the Borough, securing substantial carbon emission reduction outcomes both from Council operations and within the Borough boundary by changing how residents, businesses and partners think and act.”

If that’s what they want to achieve they are massively underpaying.

  11. Coeur de Lion says:

    “Carbon DIOXIDE”

  12. oldbrew says:

‘substantial carbon emission reduction outcomes both from Council operations and within the Borough boundary’

Dig ditches by hand – secure green jobs 🙄

  13. ilma630 says:

I wonder if they understand what % of the UK’s 1% of man’s 3% of the global 0.04% of CO2 their ‘Council’ area generates? It’s hardly going to change the world, and there’s no way they could even measure that CO2 reduction as part of the global or even UK figure. If it’s about NOx, then why can’t they be honest and say so, and not falsely attach it to ‘climate change’. Perhaps the first criteria of anyone on the Council is the ability to think critically, or even just think!

  14. Gamecock says:

Gamecock has been retired 11 years.

Director of Climate Emergency and Behavioural Change for £109,000 a year is the kind of job that could get him to go back to work.
