How long will people tolerate big cost increases without asking awkward questions about supposedly climate-oriented energy policies?

Science Matters

Ayaan Hirsi Ali explains how Energy has become the first and foremost world public concern in her Spectator article Energy is the most important issue in the world. Excerpts in italics with my bolds and added images.

Gas prices are climbing, Russia is building pipelines, yet we’re focused instead on appeasing climate activists

One issue more than any other will dominate airtime and influence policy in 2022: energy.Americans are seeing the highest prices at the pump in seven years. Since Biden took office, average gas prices are up by more than $1 a gallon. In November, gas prices in Mono County, California hit more than $6 per gallon, forcing some residents to drive to Nevada (where gas taxes are lower) to buy fuel.

The price of natural gas in the US is at its highest in seven years, and up more than 180 percent in the last year…

That’s weird and or madness and or sheer incompetence of the US Government??? The UK is allegedly looking to get LPG from the States as its North Sea NG reserves are getting very low. And Queen Greeny wont allow her waters to be exploited for extracting more of the slippery stuff – and gas too. So when the Bear takes its den back wont gas become a World issue.

This problem cannot be underestimated, going forward.

Power is still an important resource

This article unintentionally shows current energy policies are a bad joke.

pols love chaos that they have generally caused, so they can propose fixes that never fix anything and usually make things worse.

I sense that more than half the public are either too stupid to see this Charlie Brown-football scam and/or are terrified their neighbors will think them uncaring, polluting, “extremist right wingers” and cut them from the herd.

While I like to socialize I feel no pressure to join the chorus of parrots who “think” the Satanic Gases are going to set the world on fire, literally, and squawk away about it after watching CNN. The world is a madhouse these days with so many openly known and provable things turned on their heads.

Have we reached peak idiocy yet? Time to explain to the watermelons how energy and power supply work.

  5. Phoenix44 says:

The behaviour of our ruling class, driven by what is little more than hysterical shrieking from a tiny minority, is inexplicable. The lies and self-delusions required to keep this going are on a monumental scale. The likelihood this will in any sense “work” is tiny but the likelihood it will be disastrous is huge.

I simply cannot understand how lunatic the world has become.

“Brazil is betting strongly to become the main player in the development of oil and gas production in its northeast corner, where the state of Amapá shares proximity with French Guiana, Suriname, and Guyana, these two of which are set to become significant players in the hydrocarbons business.

With this in mind Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro was to visit Surinam and Guyana with the purpose of creating a regional energy corridor that includes Brazil’s vast pre salt reserves.

The talks between Bolsonaro with Guyana’s president Irfaan Ali and Chandrikapersad Santokhi of Suriname, anticipated the construction of a gas pipeline network tied to industrial and petrochemical projects, such as a gas-fired aluminum smelter to process Guyana’s bauxite ore.”

Why we need hydropower for a resilient grid

In the drive towards decarbonization, one big challenge with the renewable revolution is maintaining grid stability since wind and solar don’t currently contribute frequency response. While the technology exists, there are no regulatory or financial incentives for solar or wind power operators to contribute frequency response back to the grid. [bold added]

Penalties for doing nothing are needed, not incentives to do something. We had a resilient grid before renewables appeared.

Government should follow Germany and scrap green levies on energy bills
Tuesday 1st February 2022 | Press Release, NetZeroWatch

Dr Benny Peiser, Net Zero Watch director, said:

Boris and Rishi should, for once, follow the German example where even the ruling Green Party is in favour of scrapping green levies in order to ease the rising cost burden for ordinary families. If Boris Johnson’s government can’t manage what even the Green Party in Germany is willing to do, what’s the purpose of the Conservatives?”

There is no point of having Tory Labour or Liberal politics now. We need a new political system that really is democratic and run by the people for the people and the country. Where we all can say what we want, have one vote on it and where a 60/40 majority wins – 90/10 if its serious, <51/49 held in limbo etc.

    That’s just until October…

It means the typical bill will rise by 54% as analysts suggest the next cap, scheduled for October, could add hundreds of pounds more onto a typical bill this coming winter.

Rethink net zero plans, Cabinet urges, as country faces biggest cost-of-living crisis in a generation
    4 February 2022

Cabinet members fear speed of switch to renewable energy will heap more pressure on households struggling with energy bill and tax rises

A number of ministers have expressed concern that the pace of the planned switch to renewable energy is too fast and is increasing costs for consumers. They believe Britain should use more of its own gas in the short-term.

Net zero will refer to grid stability in that scenario.
