Can Boris now explain the causes of the Little Ice Age and Medieval Warm Period, pre-dating industrial development?
By Paul Homewood
A slide show that Prime Minister Boris Johnson says helped convince him on climate change has been revealed for the first time.
The slides used to “teach” him about climate science have been released after a Freedom of Information request by UK climate website Carbon Brief.
While Mr Johnson has urged action on climate change, he previously, as a journalist, expressed scepticism.
He called the presentation, given just after he took office, “very important”.
The “teach in”, as it was described in email correspondence, took place in the Cabinet Room of Number 10 Downing Street on 28 January 2020.
It was organised by the office of Sir Patrick Vallance, the government’s chief scientific adviser.
The briefing consisted of 11 slides showing key aspects of climate science and its impacts and the presentation was led by Prof Stephen Belcher, the chief scientist at the Met Office.

Boris’s climate briefing: information editing or wholly misleading?
Thursday 3rd February 2022 | Tim Worstall
Carbon Brief says that it has now, through a Freedom of Information request, gained access to the slides that were used to perform this conversion. At which point the rest of us need to consider whether this was just a bit of information editing in order to persuade or actually – well, we don’t use the most unparliamentary word lying, do we? – contained active untruths in order to mislead.
Unfortunately, the truth is that at least some of what was said was very much further along the spectrum to the latter than any of us should be comfortable with. We’ll use just a few examples to make our point.
In the tenth slide, there’s that grey shaded area, marked ‘baseline’. But this is the outcome from RCP 8.5, the emissions scenario that never was any more than an extreme case there to illustrate complete disaster. As we’ve laid out before at length, RCP8.5 isn’t baseline anything and never has been.
. . .
On slide seven, on future warming, there’s another use of the RCP 8.5 scenario.

The Met Office knew very well, or should have, that using the ultra-alarmist RCP8.5 was totally out of order.
[…] How Boris Was Conned By The Met Office […]
I’m sure Carrie Antoinette made BOJO do it.
So the science says it might warm. Great, OK.
Now what? We have our political and economic policies made by the Met Office too?
No, we need a proper debate with multiple viewpoints and multiple forecasts. This is the yawning gap Johnson and others don’t see – science isn’t economics or politics.
Maybe our PM can explain why he believes anyone can accurately forecast our GDP for the next 70 years?
Leaders must be replaced, they almost never admit they were wrong.

rent seekers everywhere trying to keep the ‘climate catastrophe’ going
Carrie Symonds got her political start running the campaigns of Zac Goldsmith. She is head of public relations at the Aspinall Foundation. Goldsmith and Aspinall are top Tory moneybags. Goldsmith’s The Ecologist is the flagship magazine. Follow the money trail… To think a slide changed BoJo’s mind is plainly silly. Goldsmith founded the CEN and the EU CDP. Charity Commission for England and Wales has a statutory inquiry into the Aspinall foundation…
The slides that “convinced” Boris Johnson about climate change shown in the BBC News article range from intentionally doctored to totally fabricated. They certainly to not show any proof that climate change was caused by human carbon emissions. It only takes an IQ above mud to figure out that the Keeling CO2 curve (upper left plot) has a poor relationship to the global temperature (lower left plot). Also, how come does the CO2 record follow a perfect nearly linear rise for over 6 decades?? This is not how real environmental parameters behave! It takes a bit more intelligence to notice that the global sea-level rise (lower right plot) closely mimics the CO2 upward trajectory, but has a weak correlation with global temperature. This is odd, because the sea level is supposed to have risen mostly due to thermal expansion of the oceans. There are numerous papers published over the past 5-6 years, which report that islands in the Pacific and the Indian Ocean have been increasing in size for the past 40 years rather than shrinking indicating no sea-level rise for at least 4 decades. Hence, the sea-level record shown on this slide was likely fabricated…. But, I guess, one cannot expect academic astuteness from a politician… 🙂
Net Zero “will not be feasible” without technology to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, the Government says, with targets for removing 5MtCO2 a year by 2030, equivalent to more than one per cent of the UK’s current annual emissions.
The shift in emphasis comes amid growing concern that nature-based removals, such as tree planting, will not be sufficient given the amount of land available and the time it takes for trees to grow.

The trees will grow even slower with less carbon dioxide in the air 🙄
