Brexit Leader Farage Launches Crusade Against ‘Net Zero Madness’

Not before time. The idea that ‘the climate’ is in imminent danger from human activities has no serious scientific basis, other than unreliable computer models. Current so-called green policies are ‘net stupid’ says Farage.

Establishment beware: ‘Mr. Brexit’ Nigel Farage has launched a new campaign with Britain’s ‘net zero madness’ in his crosshairs, calling for ruinous green policies to be put to a referendum, says Breitbart (via Climate Change Dispatch).

British political firebrand and Brexit pioneer Nigel Farage has turned his sights on what he calls the UK government’s “net zero madness”, and will now campaign for a referendum on green policies championed by Boris Johnson.

As part of this effort, Farage — alongside Reform UK leader Richard Tice — has launched the cross-party “Vote Power Not Poverty” campaign, which looks to halt current plans looking to decarbonize the UK’s economy by 2050.

“We deserve a national debate and referendum on these life-changing plans,” reads the new campaign’s website, which argues the Net Zero plans are “actually Net Stupid”.

“We all care about the environment and want cleaner air. We all want to do our bit,” the site argues. “But Westminster’s Net Zero is the wrong bit, at the wrong price, in the wrong timeframe.”

“The Westminster Net Zero plans will force us to change the cars we drive, change the way we heat our homes, change how much we travel and what we eat,” it continues.

“It is a radical change in the way we live. We deserve a national debate and referendum on these life-changing plans.”

Nigel Farage — one of the major figures launching the new campaign — has meanwhile stated that his intent is to kill off “Boris Johnson’s ruinous green agenda”.

“We need a referendum on the net-zero madness,” Nigel Farage wrote on his social media. Laying into the wealthy elites who often seem most comfortable with the soaring cost of living attached to green levies and policies, he said: “The Richmond Greens don’t have to worry about paying their gas bills — but millions of ordinary people do.”

“We demand a referendum on Net Zero,” Farage also stated.

Personally, I think calling for a referendum is counterproductive grandstanding that simply shifts expectations years down the road.

In my opinion, we need to attack the shaky basis of the NetZe agenda and aim to defeat the parties promoting it at the next election; not at a referendum in a decade’s time, if it were ever granted (I doubt it).

Govt has already responded to a petition for a referendum, and said we won’t get one, because it’s a policy matter, not a constitutional one.

Its bit late to have a rational science led energy strategy for the energy dependent developed UK economy that depends on cheap plentiful energy to maintain that state.. But better late than never.

At the core of the problem is the policy of net zero is unsupportable by the laws of physics, so sde;usional in science fact. Subsidising what can’t work, such as weak, intermittent and unreliable hence inherently expensive energy sources just makes what cannot work as needed more expensive and imposes the risk of economic failure through avoidable costs added to energy, and rationing. All self imposed when better options are available on all measures, unsubsidized over their lifetimes. All these problems were and are avoidable.

The current measures are regressive and enforce avoidable energy poverty on the less wealthy to enrich the wealthy by law., while debilitating energy intense industry and making everything more expensive, as everything we produce and consume has a high energy content. Having produce made where energy is cheap and plentiful, and mainly derived from fossil fuel, does nothing for any supposed climate change, So having our stuff made somewhere else using the same energy we used to use ty to do it, is a complete deceit.

In simple summary effect the results are that our industries become uncompetitive, we suffer energy driven price inflation in everything, and the subsidies ensure the richer property owners get richer still from subsidies for what doesn’t work, solar panels and electric cars, that the poor are made to pay for while they have to use while using what does work, unsubsidised, gas heating, grid generated electricity, and ICE transport, their only economic option.

This is a wholly daft, deceitful, and technically and economically bankrupt “policy” to fail,. Unnecessary and avoidable. Caused by the Political delusional and corruption of elites, neither scientific nor costed. Facts available. The people should be told! Perhaps they will be now we have a communicator who cannot easily be stopped from getting the message over.

  5. oldbrew says:

Net zero policy derives from the Climate Change Act. As long as that’s still in force the same problems will be plaguing the energy system, the home heating scene, transport and all the rest of it.

    PM Overrules Energy Regulator
    MARCH 9, 2022
    By Paul Homewood

London, 9 March – Net Zero Watch has welcomed Boris Johnson’s last minute decision to overrule the energy regulator, preventing Britain’s shale gas wells being cemented over for good.

According to press reports, the Prime Minister has opened the door to the revival of the UK’s shale gas industry in the aftermath of the Government’s ban on imports of Russian oil.

Will they finally admit that a fracking tremor limit of 0.5 on the Richter scale was oppressive, and not applicable to any other UK industries, e.g. those using dynamite (or equivalent) for quarrying?
