China continues to laugh at Western “Green Energy” foolishness

Bigger energy bills and decreasing reliability of energy supply are the only guaranteed results of climate-obsessed policies.

With an energy cost crisis now striking Europe and to a lesser extent the U.S., some cracks have begun to appear in the “net zero” utopian dreams being pursued almost universally by Western politicians, says the Manhattan Contrarian.

Nevertheless, at this writing, the rapid elimination of use of fossil fuels, supposedly to fight “climate change,” remains official government policy throughout Europe, at the federal level in the U.S., in most blue American states, and as well in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Here in the U.S., although President Biden has ordered some temporary measures like release of some oil from the nation’s strategic reserves, the full federal bureaucracy remains under orders from the top to force reduction in production and use of fossil fuels in every way it can devise.

Meanwhile, states like New York and California have rapidly approaching legal deadlines for shuttering all fossil fuel power plants, prohibiting all automobiles other than electric ones, banning natural gas for heating and cooking, and otherwise quickly upending the last century of energy progress that has made our lives affordable and enjoyable.

We are supposed to believe that the official fossil fuel suppression policies will stop “climate change” and “save the planet” through the mechanism of rapid aggregate reductions of emissions of CO2 and other “greenhouse gases.”

The rescue of the planet’s climate will make worthwhile our sacrifices in the form of higher energy prices, increased taxes to support subsidies to renewable energy, and restrictions on lifestyle.

But in fact, that narrative is all so much hogwash. In the West, twenty plus years and trillions of dollars of subsidies for “green energy” schemes have achieved only some marginal reductions in the share of final energy consumption derived from fossil fuels.

Meanwhile, in the rest of the world, fossil fuel usage continues to soar. Leading the way is China, which has used the last two years of Covid distraction to have its emissions leapfrog to new records.

In the overall picture, the Western obsession with decreasing emissions, despite enormous costs, does not have any impact that is even noticeable.

But but but, political rhetoric and belief is SO much more important than that little thing called … reality! Moreover, those of us who can see and think have realised for some time that China’s goal is world domination by economic means, and its tactics, very successfully deployed, include letting the west waste trillions of dollars/pounds/euros trying to reach the mythical end of the rainbow.

What’s worrying for the strategic needs of the UK economy (and more) is the politically driven destruction of the coal industry – and oil and gas if they carry on with there stupid belief that CO2 causes climate change. They also lack any coherent perception of what off shore wind and tidal will pan out at. Already we are seeing some significant costs raising in maintenance and made worse with the logistics of doing this in heavy seas and inclement weather. tidal power also has a very high cost to output ratio. Like wind it needs to have over capacity. East West tides and smart grid control could even out a flat dependable output, but still very low in comparison to coal gas oil etc. Cost in 2016 when I did Tidal R&D was £398 MWh for a 1Mw turbine set.

Not just the tiddlies. Me, too. Laughing at the silly round eye midwits.

China, India, Brazil would have to shut down all their so-called fossil fuel generators before I’d even consider it for us.

The issue is NEVER the issue. Just like the scamdemic, this CAGW nonsense is ALL about taking more control over our lives. Nothing to do with global climate. They need boogeymen to do that so we had a virus with a 99.7% median survival rate across all cohorts turned into the Red Death to destroy our freedoms and lives. Now they’ve moved back the Satanic Gases to keep the scam going. There will be lockdowns, odd/even driving days, $10 gasoline, etc.

Not expecting anything to happen after that. But the UK is set to carry on importing fracked gas from the US for decades to come.

  6. Russell Johnson says:

The climate change cabal was designed to usher in global governance under the control of the UN. The number one target has been and remains the USA, primarily because of its economic, political and military power. Europe has coalesced under the EU banner and has suffered under hyper-bureaucratic policies in its hope to throttle America’s power. Yes, China is laughing at all the self-canceling climate policies the western world is implementing–it plays right into their plans of world domination!

Climate change has become a cult religion and by definition is a fascist entity that survives on propaganda, innuendo, threats, misinformation, dishonesty and ignorance. Without any remorse Biden and his communist democrats are willing co-conspirators with globalist to damage America and its people. Biden risks a worldwide recession with his stupid “green” anti-energy policies; while China circles the globe making energy and trade “deals”!

I applaud this site for its openness and willingness to investigate scientific ideas and theories but climate “science” has been total corrupted by government funding, politics and the desire for power! The so called “science of climate” started the global warming/CC effort but science has been discarded in order to usher in the pure ideological/fascist/religion that is the foundation for climate change today. I doubt true science has enough adherents to overtake climate change because it’s neither about climate nor science.
