The most industrialised countries should pay the bills for everybody else’s bad weather, forever? Not going to happen of course.
By David Wojick, Ph.D. ~
The UN’s annual climate change global negotiating festival — in this case COP27 in Egypt — is less than a month away. This one could be a real hoot to watch because there is only one big issue left on the table and that is MONEY.
Lots of money, many trillions by the wishes, all flowing from the developed world to the “developing” world. (Since the so-called developing world still includes the super economy of China the word has lost all meaning.)
The money hopes are spectacular but also hopeless, hence the show. How this immense absurdity will emerge during the lucky 13 days of negotiations between the rich countries and the we-want-your-riches countries should be fun to watch.
Here is a simple scorecard so you can follow the action. First and foremost the code word is “finance”. This is not foreign aid and you…

“industrialised countries should pay the bills for everybody else’s bad weather”
IF there is any digital currency left after skimming off the top.
Many of the would-be claimants are striving to be more industrialised.
If developed countries want to help developing countries, they need to promote the building of Natural Gas and Coal and Nuclear power plants to power the economies of the developing countries, clearly this has really been successful in China and India and Russia. Russia has a setback because they are selling less fossil fuels in Europe now, but yet still more to China and India.
Lots of money, many trillions by the wishes, all flowing from the developed world “governments” to the “developing” world “champions” not the “developing” world citizens. The world “elites” the world, “already billionaires” get richer at the expense of the developed world citizens.
Can’t see the UK leading any charge to dispense largesse to anyone at the moment 😫
Being benevolent and or helpful is seen by many (in many years of working in these countries rehabilitating their power and rail infrastructures) as being weak. Once they see your wallet they will either rob you or keep hassling you until you relent. Most people get wise and tell to them to get stuffed. Question is will our new PM – or the real PM next door – say AGW is not proven, renewables need back-up and the UK needs a strategic energy policy that allows us to defend our country and have affordable reliable energy that allows us to compete in a world we haven’t ruled since the 1950’s and despises our leaders for believing they still do – that’s the real issue i.e. a new NEO Colonialism with a bigger gun boat e.g. the HMS AGW – No; not a 4 screw ST or 4 screw ST and twin reactors, but a sailing ship with PC controlled sails and aux diesel that runs out of diesel when they sail into the doldrums.
All COPs follow the same trajectory. Last chance to save the planet – ambition- consultation- arrival of the celebrities- impasse – breakthrough- cold light of day. 26 allowed nations to burn as much coal as they need. Cold etc incl China’s planned 130GW.. no way is rise in CO2 going to be checked. But it doesn’t matter.
