This puts a whole new slant on claims of wind power boosting energy security.

Russia has a programme to sabotage wind farms and communication cables in the North Sea, according to new allegations, says BBC News.

The details come from a joint investigation by public broadcasters in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

It says Russia has a fleet of vessels disguised as fishing trawlers and research vessels in the North Sea.

They carry underwater surveillance equipment and are mapping key sites for possible sabotage.

The BBC understands that UK officials are aware of Russian vessels moving around UK waters as part of the programme.

The first of a series of reports is due to be broadcast on Wednesday by DR in Denmark, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden and Yle in Finland.

A Danish counter-intelligence officer says the sabotage plans are being prepared in case of a full conflict with the West while the head of Norwegian intelligence told the broadcasters the programme was considered highly important for Russia and controlled directly from Moscow.

The broadcasters say they have analysed intercepted Russian communications which indicate so-called ghost ships sailing in Nordic waters which have turned off the transmitters so as not to reveal their locations.

The report focuses on a Russian vessel called the Admiral Vladimirsky. Officially, this is an Expeditionary Oceanographic Ship, or underwater research vessel. But the report alleges that it is in fact a Russian spy ship.

The documentary uses an anonymous former UK Royal Navy expert to track the movements of the vessel in the vicinity of seven wind farms off the coast of the UK and the Netherlands on one mission.

Well what can you say, on a nice sunny bright warm April day, what’s not to like ( and FOX news, BTW, has been forgotten by the UK MSM in that breaking news headlines last night) There is some Schadenfreude though, looking at the big blue bar on @gridwatch, yet yield is ONLY around 35% of demand …. and is it in Internationial waters or outside Territorial fishing waters? Huh, even Derv in the generator is cheaper than mains electricity for large scale use in the Workshop as required. As for the euroMSM Club and Nordstream, can one believe anything they say, …just leading up to a Null pwunt power delivery one day ( setting the scene for null delivery of sufficient power at some time in the future ) Hulls ballz ( Ed’s or Multiband’s, even), Can’t blame CHINA for that, so who is next closest? Quea? naw HAS to be the Russians, eh? (sarc). If we ever get back to big time manufacturing, wind ‘n Solar ( 10% only today) won’t make it anyway, despite the hype. Hydrogen from what? as bubbled at the HGV show this now/ yesterday ….

And another fear-mongering re-tread. That the BBC ran with it, tells you all need to know about the BBC.

  3. Jim says:

Ah, yes, a retread article. But, interestingly, it diverts resources to look at energy interdependence. With fewer coal plans online, how do you interrupt power production? Remember, to win a “war” you have to stop production plants. Name a production plant that does not use electricity.

  4. ivan says:

Who can believe any of the propaganda put out by the BBC on behalf of the UN Church of Climatology and who in their right mind sees wind and solar as a viable power source?
Maybe the answer is to use the ‘smart meters’ to ensure that the believers only get electricity when it is produced by the wind and then we could wait for the crying when the wind doesn’t blow.

Scandinavians are leading the charge on this one….

“Is that the truth, or did you hear it on the BBC ?”

  7. Brian R Catt says:

Why is this a problem, would be good for bill payers if the 100% CCGT unsubsidised backup takes over 100% of supply and reduces the subsidy burden of the part time renewables, which add nothing positive to the mix they are added to – just expense and grid instability. Follow the money.

It reminds me about the scare of “Soviet visits” in the Swedish archipelago a numbers of years ago. Only one confirmed case at the time, a Whiskey class sub that got stuck one some rocks (refered as “Whiskey on the Rocks” since). In that period, Sweden had a number of official visits by the US Marine in Stockholm. Of all the alarms, no one would have been surprised if a US dub was caught, but instead it was [navy] “seals”, small “fishing boats” etc..

Just like the “intruding Russian MIG’s” only some few days ago, as an attempt to scare Swedes into the idea that NATO membership is a good thing … In my opinion, it never was and never will be, but the arms dealer Wallenberg family have a different opinion. Anyway, the real threat is WDC & associated maffia organisations …

From the Daily Mail report, which also shows a masked man with a big rifle on deck. Not your regular trawlerman.

Oldbrew, … and if it’s not ships, seems that non-transponding Russian aircraft were challenged over the Baltic recently according to caption on German tv news this morning. Hmm testing/searching for something. Don’t WE do that too?
Last week we had 3 small (Trainer/surveillance airtaxi) jets fly very very low over us up to Wick airport where they met up with a US Army craft of similar style. Not a cheap in the local news. What’s up?
