Never mind the advancing weeds. The war on anything fuel-powered in the name of climate obsessions continues unabated.

First, they came for your gas-powered car, says Larry Behrens @ CFACT. Then they came for the gas-powered stove.
Up next on the chopping block of the environmental left is the gas-powered lawn mower and the start of “No Mow May.”
If you haven’t heard of this phenomenon it means forgoing mowing your lawn for a month, so it takes on a more natural presence all in the name of helping bees.
Don’t get me wrong, I love those little honey generators as much as the next guy but in this case, they are being used as a proxy in the green fight. Here’s the real buzz.
For years, the extreme environmental movement has bashed the suburban badge of honor that is a green lawn. In 2016, the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) was pushing hard for the “no mow” movement saying, “Moving away from water-guzzling and chemical-hungry lawns and cultivating yards that are diverse and self-regulating is a matter of mounting urgency.”
In this case, the definition of “urgency” may be a little loose because if you take a Google-look at the NRDC’s Bozeman, Montana office you’ll find…a pristine looking lawn.
In their defense, raging hypocrisy might just be an excellent fertilizer.
It would all be truly laughable if the actions of the eco-left were limited to only their dismissive antics. Sadly, the millions spent by the NRDC and their cronies spend on politics and lobbying are big enough it would likely pay the water bill for your whole neighborhood, forever.
At the same time they want you to stop watering your lawn, they will not be turning off their own spigot of cash. You can’t really blame them as their never-ending flow of money is getting desired results.
Over 100 cities across the country have passed rules against gas powered lawn equipment.

C’mon, man! all in the name of helping bees ? never really seen Bees on the lawn: Didn’t these Buffoons study real Botany: the Grasses aka wind-pollinated plants, munched by herbivores ( usually) and if there’s a load o’ weeds, probably smoked by this bunch of Econuts does not encourage many bees. Pollination by pink elephants nexty, eh?. So in the name of California ( Notes on the use of your Petrol lawnmower ( “the state of California …. Bla blah blah” ) maybe persuaded some folk to use those newfangle Robert ( Robo) mowers !
Now, Grass Pollen CAN be something else for some, the encouragement of the Daddy Shortlegs and his pals the Leather Jacket brigade ( No Motorbikes here) and then all the other beasties that creep around, SLUGS et al. Gramp’s Gramp’s Gramp told him that one year’s SEEDING gives a 1000 Years weeding. So look at all the chemicals we’ll be needing. Chemical Ali, are you still in business ? And Mouldy old grass anyone? Does wonders for asthma. Worra bunch o’ plonkers
Climate change is irrelevant, petrol mowers are antisocial in crowded towns, gassing your neighbours on a lovely summer’s evening is just moronic, especially given that battery mowers are now so cheap and powerful.
As for not mowing you lawn at the fastest growing point in the season, a great way to ruin it. It’ll probably get swamped by moss, and look dead when you eventually cut it back short, and subsequently be much less likely to survive any ‘extreme’ weather one way or the other. You’re certainly not going to get any worthwhile increase in plant diversity or benefit to wildlife in one month. Just pointless.
I will continue to mow my very large lawn (even in May). In recompense, the rest of my large garden is full of fruit and other bushes, and flowers, blooming from February until November.
The little buzzers have plenty to collect.
Aww, MrGrimNasty, ‘petrol mowers are antisocial in crowded towns….’ Yes n No, the smell of freshly mown grass around Easter (the first cut) that sweet smell, Ahh! something to die for. your other points: I heartily agree with, ‘Any fool can cut grass’ , right ?

Your garden is likely to attract around 20 species of bee.
. . .
Browse our gallery of some of the more common bee species likely to visit your garden, and see which ones you recognise.

But now you know why – according to green garden experts 😎
(Don’t think this went thru’ the 1st time – PC issues) Now, Oldbrew! I really thought I mis-read the title and went O/T ( which I enjoy from time to time ) ‘..next Green front? Your front lawn’ well, MY front lawn is NOT my Garden, just the front lawn with some fruit trees and daffies in it, int’it. My Garden is my Farm: well, I oy growing the veg and cereals and seeing the different ‘erbs growing in the Fence & Dyke boundaries, even although the fields are grazed bare to keep weeds in check, etc. Orchids grow in the marginal areas, Odd daffodils and Lupins along the railway embankment, Fruit trees and other broadleaves abound, Stinky Willy and Willowherb keep trying desperately to invade along with creeping Sowthistle, and then we have the beautifully manicured fields of Spring Cereals, Winter wheat and the neighbours’ annoying OSR competing with the fresh striped (rolled) vigorously growing PRG Mixture with, in odd years, an overabundance of Red Clover, otherwise the simple W White Clover and patches of Daisies. Wonderful stuff. Oh then that other thingy – our National Flags blowing about – not so many getting caught in the trees. The woke brigade have changed the source… no longer Mr T. it’s now Mr Mac or Kenny’s stuff.
Pert’ info is welcome, but EX-pert opinion……… I thought Ivory was banned ? Alice ? my Glasses, please.

A setback for another ‘green front’…
Germany’s Greens punished in polls over plans to ban gas heating
Junior partner in Olaf Scholz’s coalition wants to base all new heating systems on 65 per cent renewable power starting next year
BERLIN – 15 May 2023
Germany’s Green Party has been given a bloody nose at the polls after a plan to ban gas heating has gone down badly on the doorstep.
At elections in Bremen on Sunday, the Greens won just 12 per cent of the vote.
The result marked a 6 per cent drop on the last election in 2019 in Germany’s smallest state and comes after weeks of anger over the party’s plan to ban new gas heating installations.

Green party chairman: “But we won’t let ourselves be dictated by polling… the challenges facing this country are too big for that.”
Sounds like he’s got his idea of democracy back to front 🙄
