The simple fact is that the elites, particularly in the US, but to a great extent in the UK and Europe as well, just don’t care what happens to ordinary people. Buy EVs, don’t buy them. They don’t care. The world is going to be run how they want it, and if you don’t like it, hard luck. We’ve shown we can’t be trusted, voting for Brexit and Trump, and now we are just going to be ruled by autocrat.
Governments think changing course makes them look weak, so it usually takes a lot for that to happen.
