How much of the increase is due to warmer oceans outgassing more CO2 and/or absorbing less of it? In any case the renewables delusion of an energy transition is shown up again. Unfortunately this article resorts to the old propaganda trick of using a sunset picture of cooling towers to make steam appear black.

Despite growing investments in renewable energy, global carbon dioxide emissions reached a new record in 2022, driven largely by developing nations in Asia, says OilPrice.com.
. . .
The 2023 Statistical Review of World Energy revealed that fossil fuels account for 82% of the world’s primary energy consumption, and CO2 emissions from energy rose by 0.9% in 2022.
Although emissions from OECD countries have been declining, non-OECD nations, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, are seeing a sharp rise due to economic growth and increased energy consumption.
Addressing global emissions requires collaboration with Asia’s fast-growing nations, innovative technologies to bypass traditional fossil fuel dependence, and strategies to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility.
. . .
The 2023 Review shows the world remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels for energy needs, even as renewables like solar and wind continue rapid growth.

Huh, at least the carbon header is in inverted commas. ‘nough said about it…. but we keep on TALKING about it, talking as in making LAWS and other such rubbish.
Curious to know why we don’t have sit-ons to get rid of of all these nonsense entities.
Now if we all did as told by 20-oatcake, and nothing happened, or got worse, what then? It’s like being stuck at the Door ringing a non-functioning Bell and wondering why the Butler didn’t come. “FFS” – whatever that means: but you get the drift, the HERON knows what it means when you stand at a pond with no fish, not much point in continuing with your friends in the hope of attracting some fish to appear – but we – WE civilised know-it-all folk continue down the daft road to oblivion.
[reply] inverted commas were a Talkshop edit 🙂
From the report (top 3 sum to >52% of global):

Top 10 Carbon Dioxide Emitters.
And in other good news: Plant life is thriving as the planet gently warms and more food is available to support animals everywhere.
World’s oceans set new surface temperature record

Warmer oceans are also less capable of absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2).

The source of the CO2 is irrelevant to that.
this whole carbon insanity reminds me of Sisyphus
I think the first question should be ‘why is there such a concern about CO2 since it makes things grow? We have several farmers that grow things in poly tunnels where they increase the CO2 to get better crops.
Someone needs to bang the heads of the IPCC and make them understand we need more CO2 in the atmosphere to keep the people fed, but then they are following the diktat of the Club of Rome and WEF that seems to think the world is overpopulated and all the little people should be eliminated.
Ivan, if you could absolutely conclusively proven that CO2 was not changing gvtge climate at all, many Greens would still hate oil and gas and demand that we use EVs and stop flying. Many politicians would still demand that they get to decide where and how we live and what we consume. Climate change is a fabulous idea for many as it allows them to indulge their irrational hates, their authoritarian impulses and their desire to be important and virtuous. It is not just “religion” but corrupt religion, taken over by those who see how they can use it for their own ends.
