Climate obsession can warp the mind if this case is anything to go by. Government policy is to find more UK gas but one of its top ministers opposes the idea in his own constituency.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt says he is “bitterly disappointed” after a Court of Appeal ruling gave the green light to a gas drilling project in his Surrey constituency, reports Sky News.

The site in Dunsfold, which energy company UK Oil and Gas (UKOG) wants to explore, has been the source of a protracted legal battle.

The application was approved by the government in June 2022, despite it being refused by the local Conservative council and opposition from Mr Hunt when he was a backbench MP.

Before becoming chancellor Mr Hunt said in a letter to Housing Secretary Michael Gove that the decision to allow gas drilling was “wrong both economically and environmentally”.

Now in one of the most senior posts in government, he stood by his opposition to the project after the Court of Appeal refused permission for any further appeals.

In a post on X, he said: “I am bitterly disappointed to learn that the Court of Appeal has today refused permission for any further appeal against the UKOG planning consent for the Loxley gas well outside Dunsfold.

“I stand ready to provide my assistance and support to local communities in any way possible going forwards.”

Mr Hunt’s opposition to the project will be watched closely, given he and other ministers have keenly backed plans to maximise oil and gas production in the North Sea.

Any reduced ‘miles’ for the ‘import’ of this product can only reduce the ‘so called’ ‘greenhouse gas’ (CO2) whilst we improve our ‘green’ technology!
Kind regards, Ray Dart (AKA suricat).

Why would the UK want to incur other/extra cost to our ‘energy requirement/needs’ when the ‘energy’ lives ‘here’ without the ‘extra cost’ of buying the produce/product imported to our shores?
Perhaps we should not pay the price for/on the ‘open market’, the UK is a ‘producer’ of this energy and should separate itself from the ‘collegiate’ that ‘sets the price tag’ for oil and gas.

“It ” or “They” call it free economics !(?) Meanwhile despite current world events, eg German Wholesale Gas price has fallen by HALF since last year according to this morning’s News Prog. … and OUR (UK) Electric price is related to Gas prices ….. who dunnit that way?
And, AND! £30/MWh. works out at 3pence per UNIT … what markup is that we pay to get it delivered ? DOn’t tell me it’s to pay for the infrastructure – that in itself is a rip-off …..

If more hydrogen gets produced than the storage capacity can handle, putting the excess into the gas network is one option. Another one is to stop producing it until the storage is available again, but in future that might mean more wind power constraint payments?

Why we should be giving ourselves these problems in the first place is another matter.

Sweden’s new govt has called time on the charade.

Sweden is SCRAPPING Agenda 2030 goals!

The new right-wing government is dismantling the work of the previous Socialist government.

Sweden has been doing a lot of right things lately. They have already scrapped the renewable energy plans and have been pushing for more nuclear power.

In the new year, Sweden REMOVED climate taxes on fuel, causing diesel prices to collapse by over 4 SEK per litre.

In 2022 when the Socialist democrats were in power, the diesel price reached a whopping 28 SEK per litre. After the right-wing government removed climate taxes, prices in the new year reached almost as low as 17 SEK per litre. That is around 39% lower diesel prices. Wow!

But further steps have been taken…

The previous Socialist government included formulations in directives to governmental organizations in Sweden that they had to work towards achieving the Agenda 2030 goals.

The new government has cut the budget to municipalities and regions co-operation for Agenda 2030.

And now during the Christmas holidays, they have REMOVED the Agenda 2030 goals from the directives to government organizations such as the Swedish Energy Agency, the Swedish Chemicals Agency, the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and the Swedish Food Agency among others.

    THIS IS HUGE!

Did you know that Bill Gates has donated a whopping $1.27 BILLION towards funding the UN Agenda 2030 global goals? And a large amount of that money is going towards GLOBAL DIGITAL ID.

This is a major win for the right-wing Swedish Democrats who are very happy about this move.

“Generally, we don’t see any added value with the Agenda 2030 work and welcome the development. During the reign of the Social Democrats and the Green Party, Agenda 2030 and gender equality have been put in place everywhere, and we do not think that is one of the most important tasks for authorities” said Martin Kinnunen, environment and climate spokesperson for the Swedish Democrats.

So there we have it. Sweden has begun to go against the Agenda 2030 global goals.

Interesting because I didn’t here anything AT ALL on our TV / Radio /papers media. “causing diesel prices to collapse by over 4 SEK per litre” – Thats around 30 pennies per litre DROP ….. ANd of course “what happens in Sweden” never happens in the UK …. unless its Left wing / woke stuff, right? Freedom Party’s for Future, Right ?

Benzine, eh ( that’s PETROL to you & Me, though ) ” How to use the site
To update a price or see a map to a station, click on the desired station in the list. Black prices are reported by visitors, green by station owners and olive green are target prices from the petrol companies.” and around £1.30 – £1.40 per LITRE ….. . which is still a LITRE in your tank despite the cold weather. Did the EV’s power evaporate with the Tiger? great way to lose money, filling up all those Evs, …. and then EXPECTING to be recovered by a TRUSTY DIESEL to take you home. I’ts OK! I’ve got an EV !
