The Talkshop makes it to the Bloggies finals!

Posted: February 1, 2012 by tallbloke in Blog, media

This is unexpected. It appears that the Talkshop has received sufficient nominations to make it into the final voting round for the 2012 Bloggies awards, in the ‘Best European Blog’ category. If you rate the Talkshop then head over to the Bloggies website and vote!

Watts Up With That is of course a finalist too, in the ‘Best Science or Technology Weblog’ category, so please consider WUWT in your minimum of three choices as well. Also, Steve McIntyre’s Climate Audit is up for best Canadian blog and Jo Nova’s site is up for best Australian blog. Don’t forget to watch out for the resulting email containing the confirmation link after voting; your choices won’t be counted unless you click it.

Anthony Watts has a post up here mentioning all the blogs (Thanks!), and giving an excellent detailed howto on the voting process.

Voting closes on 19 February, and results are late on the 26th EST.

I’ll make this post ‘sticky’ for now. Other new items will appear below this one. I’ve put a clickable 2012 Bloggies logo top left and a countdown calendar to remind late voters of the deadline.

I’ll update the post with further details soon.

  6. A. C. Osborn says:

  12. Gerry says:

    You and WUWT have my votes. I hope to be bringing in some more votes for your blog from my friends in the U.S.A. too.

  13. “Wife” just voted for the gang as well, from a different email address.

  14. Chris says:

    Well done Roger.

    Great minds, and all that.

    TB;
    “unexpected”; but I notice you didn’t modestly add “undeserved”. 😉

    Too late to nominate RC for Best Religious blog, I see. Oh, well, next year.

  18. Rosalind Smallwood says:

    Already voted for you, Sir Roger. Well-deserved acknowledgement of what you do on behalf of the rest of us.

  19. Vuk says:

    Even got my wife to vote for you, at first she was a bit reluctant, when told her you are 6foot6 she wanted to vote twice.

  20. lorne500 says:

    voted for you & steve & jo & watts.

  21. Voted. Thanks for all your good work.

    When I looked at other blogs there, I really felt that the climate science blogs had the edge on all the ones I saw, except American Thinker under Politics and Norse Mythology.

  22. Zeke says:

    It would certainly be good fun to see this site win. And also, voting right now will double as a message to the pricipalities that are attempting to pass SOPA, PIPA and ACTA. The people love their blogs and their conversations online. So consider it a good deed to vote (:

    PS Was it possible to enter your own choice? (: Can I revote?! I would like to have nominated thunderbolts picture of the day, in another category of course.

  23. tallbloke says:

    Thanks everyone for your support.

    Zeke: No revotes from the same ip/email. I voted for *all* the climate blogs in the finals. 🙂

  24. Vuk says:

    UK climate change minister Chris Hughne charged.

  25. Vuk says:

    OT
    UK climate change minister Chris Hughne resigns!

  26. Brian H says:

    Vuk;
    Both posts are wrong. It’s “Huhne”. No “g” necessary.

    Now if only his insane policies would go with him …

    Why graph is not updated?

    🙂

    [Reply] Grazia Michele, I have emailed Leif. I hope he is OK. I noticed he hasn’t had anything to say on the WUWT N&Z related threads…

    UPDATE: Leif returned my mail, all is well and he has updated the solar graph.

  31. Brian H says:

    Voted, and several days later am still awaiting the verification email. Anyone else had to wait so long?

  32. Beth Cooper says:

    Voted and verified, good luck TB.

  33. Brian H says:

    Beth;
    Your email got me looking again. No joy, so I did a text search of all my mail (Yahoo). Lo and behold, an email with this header:
    “FROM: Weblog Awards

    TO: —–

    Tuesday, February 8, 2011 9:33:23 AM

    Note the date, 3 days in the future!! The email client didn’t know where to put it on the listing, so it doesn’t show at all …

    Anyhooo, now verified. Time travel is SO confuzin’.

  34. meltemian says:

    I voted this morning via JoNova. No sign of a confirmation email here either.
    Maybe they have Sundays off?

  35. tallbloke says:

    Meltemian: beautiful horse you have as your avatar, plenty of arab in that. What’s the connection?

  36. dougieh says:

    voted & email back in about 60 secs thru WUWT link.

    good luck & all the best mate (glad to see you don’t let them get to you,not easy but you have a lot of support out here)
    from a lurker 🙂

  37. Brian H says:

    mm;
    Try searching your mail file for “Bloggi”. Maybe it’s hiding in a Time Tunnel like mine.

  38. Jockdownsouth says:

    No email received after voting using Chrome browser but immediate response when I tried Firefox. Dunno if this helps.

  39. GSW says:

    Voted for you, obviously, tallbloke. Just being nominated is a badge of worth, congrats and Good Luck!. I know you ‘sometimes’ visit Deltoid, odd bunch over there, I’ve just been moderated/banned out of existence from there, they don’t like it up em!. I too made the mistake of assuming it was a science blog!

    Again, Bon Chance mon Brave!

  40. tchannon says:

    “DeSmog fans will likely know about Tim Lambert at Deltoid – a smart Australian scientist who does fabulous work debunking some of the ridiculous denier talking points.”

    “These guys are adding significantly to the quality science debunking that we have come to expect from RealClimate, the kind of stuff that leaves the deniers sputtering because, well, it’s all about science and they’re, well, not.”
