Another climate worrier fest, another year of the non-existent Arctic summer sea ice ‘death spiral’. How long can this charade go on?

COP27 is almost upon us, says Net Zero Watch.

That means it’s the time of year when we take stock of the changes we see taking place in the Earth’s climate, when we begin to think aboout placing the weather events of 2022 into the context of decadal trends.

This review, however, might leave some delegates heading to Egypt for the 27th UN climate summit a little confused.

The data for the summer extent of Arctic sea is already available which – the delegates will be told yet again – is dwindling so rapidly that it will inevitably lead to an ice-free summer later this decade … or most certainly next decade … or almost certainly the decade after that.

Confusingly, its minimum extent for 2022 is about the same as 2017 and 2018 and is only the 10th lowest on record.

It is clear that the decline in minimum Arctic ice extent seen since satellite records have been available (1979) has levelled off as this year is near the average it was a decade ago.

The recent rebound of Arctic sea ice is particularly noticeable in Alaska.

Not that much has happened at the opposite pole either. Although Antarctic sea ice extent hit record lows for most of the growth season there was a strong recovery in September.

So the polar ice summary for COP27 is that there is nothing unusual happening, at least as regards polar ice extent.

    NZW cites this recent research:
Systematic Climate Model Biases in the Large-Scale Patterns of Recent Sea-Surface Temperature and Sea-Level Pressure Change

Here we investigate the ability of 16 climate model large ensembles to reproduce observed sea-surface temperature and sea-level pressure trends over 1979–2020 through a combination of externally forced climate change and internal variability. We find large-scale differences between observed and modeled trends that are very unlikely (<5% probability) to occur due to internal variability as represented in models. [bold added]

  3. All the alarmist stories about the alarming loss of sea ice in polar regions is part of the schemes for officials to scare people into handing over power and money.

Ice Core Records are actual data. Ice core records for Greenland and Antarctica clearly there is little ice accumulation during coldest years and much ice accumulation during warmest years.

This proves that most of the ice in Greenland ice cores and most of the ice in Antarctic ice cores was deposited as snowfall when the polar oceans were thawed, were warmest, and most of the ice in ice cores was put there when ice shelves were mostly gone. The energy that powers the Polar Ice Machines is delivered to the Polar Regions by warm ocean currents from the tropics, maybe even some energy from the undersea volcanoes. In any case, there would be very little ice on polar and near polar land if polar oceans were always frozen.

Thawed polar oceans take water out of the oceans and puts ice on polar land, that lowers sea level.

Yes it’s COP27 time when Big Brother UN and its acolytes such as the IPCC etc. take over the media and flood it with reams of dubious misinformation and scary propaganda. The fiasco itself will wheel out many a compliant Politician again to regurgitate the lies perpetrated at COP26 and earlier.
Any objections will be ruthlessly “Platformed” with those responsible dealt with later.
Meanwhile the Media will lap it all up and make a killing on the scary Clickbait stories.

  5. Chaswarnertoo says:

We have gone beyond stupidity into insanity. Antarctica has just had the coldest winter on record and there has been no warming for 40 years.

  6. Brett Keane says:

Brett Keane Please understand that James Clerk Maxwell’s “Theory of Heat”, pp230-250, on Radiation, Light and Heat, clears it all up. He demonstrates that Radiance passing through clear gases has zero effect on their Temperatures, as with Electromagnetic Waves. Amazon and Book Depository have affordable Reprints. So we can get out of this stupid rut, thanks to the Genius who also wrote the LOTDs.
